Brewers vs. Cardinals in St. Louis with Foley |
I was really digging into my meal when Foley snapped this picture of me. I was so into my ham and eggs that I didn't even take the time to stop and make a goofy face. That is a rarity, which just goes to show how mega awesome and delicious this breakfast really was. I ate every last scrap of food on my plate then we headed over to the Highlander, which was nowhere as cool as the movie starring Christopher Lambert. If you haven't seen it you should, because according to Ricky Bobby it won the Academy Award for best movie ever. Although Jean Girard did say that it was shit. |
Our seats for today's game were better than yesterday's but not by much. We were still up in the upper regions of the stadium where fans go to die. But it was this or overpay for better seats. The view of the city of St. Louis was really good from up here, but that was about it. The players seemed like they were so far away and and I know that I'm spoiled from going to games at Miller Park. I haven't sat up in the Terrace Level for years, so all of my home baseball watching takes place from the Club Level or the left field bleachers. I suppose that I'm spoiled. |
The worst part about Busch Stadium is that they only serve Budweiser products. So that means that if I wanted a beer (and I did) I was forced to drink Bud Light or some other shitty beer. But one of the other guys bought it for me, so I couldn't decline. |
Yesterday we all brought out coats or sweatshirts because it was a night game. We figured that the weather would be nicer during the day but we didn't factor in the wind effect. Dan was freezing so he borrowed Mark's Cardinals jacket. He was embarrassed to be wearing the enemy's colors, but being warm was more important. |
We were sitting up in the top row and all that separated us from plunging to our deaths was a chain link fence. While it did save us from dying, it didn't block the wind from hitting us. It was pretty cold out and the wind wasn't helping anything. It was rough. |
But not to me. I'd freeze to death before wearing a Cardinals or Cubs jacket. While yesterday's game was an eventual blowout, today's game was won by the Brewers in a nail biting 5-4 victory with Carlos Villanueva making a spot start and Trevor Hoffman earning the save. Everyone except Mark loved the end results. |
One of my favorite things about staying in a hotel is the continental breakfast in the morning. The only problem that I have with it is that you have to wake up early enough to get it. At most hotels if you miss it, it's no big deal because you only missed out on a piece of toast and a travel sized box of cereal. Oh but not at the Hampton Inn. They had a hot breakfast featuring scrambled eggs with ham and some hot moist biscuits like the ones you get at KFC. Throw in bagels, yogurt and coffee and I overjoyed to be awake in the morning for this feast. Foley didn't go all out like I did, but then again no one really does. After all, I did have a little bit of rum in my coffee. Start the day out right! |
