Brewers vs. Cardinals in St. Louis with Foley

In case I didn't mention it, today was Friday October 2nd and the beginning of the last series of the 2009 season. The Cardinals had locked up the division a while back (the 2nd place Cubs finished 7.5 games back and the 3rd place Brewers finished 11 games back) and really didn't have anything to play for. The Brewers on the other hand, we're trying to recoup a little bit of respect by beating a division rival at their own ballpark. A winning season or even finishing at .500 was out of the question, but I was hoping that they could at least scrape out a couple.

But these little bastards sure loved me. I think that they were college freshman, and if I recall one of them went to Marquette. But they kept on egging me on and I responded by tossing various insults and scalding remarks towards them. And the more that I made fun of them, the more they loved it. What a bunch of idiots.

Some of you probably have been approached by someone at Miller Park who takes your picture and then gives you a card so that you can later go online and not spend $8 on said picture. We've seen it a thousand times. I wonder who buys those things. But I got my picture taken with the photo chick because she was hot and she was wearing booty shorts. 2 of my weaknesses.... I was pretty suave and asked that she be in the picture with me, and she agreed. Then I "stole" a copy (albeit a watermarked copy) from the website to put on here. Awesome.

Dave, Dan and I were being as rowdy as we could be seeing that the Brewers were losing 6-0 in the 4th inning. But Braden Looper was on the mound today, and as his season record of 14-7 with a 5.22 ERA suggests, he was a beneficiary of tremendous run support. Today would not be any different. The hot chick took a picture of the 3 of us, then I put my rally cap on. And surprisingly it worked. So it is true that one man has the power to change the world. We were able to squeeze out 3 runs out of Cy Young candidate Adam Wainright and then score 9 more runs on account of some shoddy defense and wild pitches from the Cardinals. And I was loving every single second of the action.

Tonight was Ozzie Smith Bobblehead night. I normally don't care about getting collectables from other teams, but it's hard to throw this one away. Ozzie had an great career (.262 average, 13 Gold Gloves, 15 time All-Star appearances, 1st ballot Hall of Famer and those trademarked backflips) so I was excited to have this figure.

But one guy that wasn't loving it was the Cardinals fan sitting in front of me. If I had been swearing and being offensive I might have understood where this Dad was coming from. But it is my belief that he was hating on me simply because I was a Brewers fan and his team just pissed away the lead (and the game) to my team.

Our seats were way up in the far off regions of the upper right field deck, but we were having a good time anyway. We were the only Brewers fans in the vicinity which sucked at first but later would come into play. But for now I had to be surrounded by Cardinals fans, which was to be expected. This was their home stadium.
