Trip 2005 - Las Vegas Round 2 (Night)

When you're driving West through the deserts of Nevada, Vegas just kinda pops out of nowhere. There's sand, sand, sand, maybe some small brushes and cacti, and then boom! - Las Vegas. We drove past the entire city to get to the airport to pick up the kids, then hang out and check out what nighttime Vegas had to offer besides booze, gambling and women.

I finally decided to meet up with Tim and Sarah, who were across the street from Caesar's Palace at Bally's. I joked that it was like the Total Fitness Center and you could play slots while running on a treadmill or stairmaster. That would give me an incentive to work out.

I simply did not have enough time in Vegas to see even a fraction of what I wanted to see. It's amazing to consider that while I was there, I saw and did so much, but I could probably spend an entire week in Vegas and still walk away not having seen it all. This is one of those places that I wish I had some time to check out - Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville. It's probably the coolest themed restaurant (sorry, it beats out Planet Hollywood and Hard Rock Cafe) that I've never been to. I would love to live like Jimmy, if even for an hour of overpriced food and drink, wasting away all of my money...

We were running on a really tight schedule. Most of the outdoor shows and attractions do their final show between 10 and midnight. I wanted to go back and heck out the Pirate show at Treasure Island, so we rushed there only to find that the show was cancelled because of high winds. That really bummed me out, so we walked over by the weak Mirage Volcano. I wanted to check out the fountains at the Bellagio, so I ran by myself in that direction. Tim and Sarah hung out and ate at Fatburger, and Jenny and my Dad wandered the streets. Everyone was kind of weird that night, so we all wandered the streets of Vegas and actually didn't get anything accomplished.

By the time I had made it to the Bellagio (the Las Vegas strip is like super huge, and it takes forever to get anywhere) the fountain show was just finishing. I was a little upset, but I quickly got over it. This entire night wasn't going well at all, and all of us were separated and not having any fun.
