After a bit of searching, we found the old school Las Vegas sign (I can cross another thing off of my To Do list) and got our picture in front and in back of it. I think it's really cool, in a retro kind of way, but it's borderline tacky, like the crap you find in the Dells. I guess I could go either way about it, but at that time, while I was standing underneath it and felt it's history wash over me, I could think of no better place to be. I just wish that I was taking some of Las Vegas' money with me, then I wouldn't think twice about driving carefully and coming back again soon.

We stopped by to get gas before we hit the desert road to Palm Springs (gas was super expensive) and ran into this representative for Jones soda. He gave us a 4-pack of Cherry and Cream soda, some energy drinks and some lip gloss with his info on it, which was kind of like a business card. That guy was really cool.

I bet you're asking "why aren't there any more pictures from this day?" I'll tell you why. The drive to Palm Springs from Vegas is boring. There is absolutely nothing in the desert except gas stations every 50 odd miles. We listened to CD's on the drive, custom made for this trip. Tim and I each burnt 2 road trip CD's, full of tracks that we knew each other would enjoy. That helped to pass the time, but it was still a long drive. We didn't arrive until midnight or so, because we got lost and we had less than average directions. It was really late, and we were all worn out, so we basically crashed. There would be plenty of time for fun tomorrow, the day of our friend Craig's wedding.

This old gold-digger was hanging out in the parking lot across the street. Naturally, we posed for a picture with him. Apparently we aren't the only ones, for I came across a picture of this large man hanging out with another family on the internet one day. Tim tried to steal his gun (he was too busy panning for gold) but the man's six shooter was securely fastened to his hip. Gun safety ensures the safety of everyone. Charlton Heston would be proud.
