Trip 2005 - San Francisco

Being strangers in a strange town, we were prone to making mistakes. Unfortunately, this mistake cost us $3 when we wanted to get back to San Francisco. We had driven onto the wrong freeway, and this freeway took us over the Bay Bridge and into Oakland. If we wanted to get back to the right (West) side we had to dish out some dollars. It's definitely worth my $3 to get out of scary Oakland and into friendly San Francisco, so I paid up. Along the way, I wanted to stop at Treasure Island, which is a man-made island constructed for use by the US Military. Recently, it's abandoned military base served as the set for the freeway chase scene in the Matrix Reloaded. The filmmakers built the freeway stretch on this island and used it extensively in the 45 day shoot which became the centerpiece of that film. I just wanted to stop off and search for buried treasure. Why call it treasure island if there wasn't treasure there? That would just be a mean trick to play on people like me.

We were welcomed into the overly friendly arms of San Francisco and greeted with the sweet smells of fresh baked poppy seed muffins. San Francisco is always a little too happy to see you and promptly welcomes you with good intentions. It eases your weary bones and is always there to listen about you troubles.

This sign says that Monster Park is a fun place to be...but not if there's monsters there! I challenge you to name a time when you've had an enjoyable time in the company of monsters. You can't because if you were hanging out with monsters, they almost certainly devoured you and you are no longer alive to recount your story.

Tim was using a map to direct us to a park that was near some houses, as we were trying to find the Tanner House by accident. This turned out to be a useless drive, but we all still had a good time goofing around in the automobile.

Monster Park is the stadium of the San Francisco 49ers, but many local residents still call it by it's former and more recognizable name - Candlestick Park. Out here in San Fran, they reject corporate sponsorship because most of the people are freeloading hippies.
