Trip 2005 - Alcatraz Island |
Jenny and I make our Mother's worst nightmare come true when we end up behind bars for violating Alcatraz's no loitering policy. We were hanging around, being goofy, and basically refusing to learn anything about Alcatraz's history, so the National Park Police threw us behind bars. They promised to not release us until we learned about the island or at the time when the last ferry leaves for the day; which ever one comes first. |
Life is tough in the slammer. The pressures and confines of the big house have worked their toll upon us and turned Jenny and I into broken souls. We've been put away for so long that there's not an ounce of joy left in our bodies, and our attitudes no longer know how to be positive. Knowing that we have been defeated by the man, we dejectedly hung our heads and contemplated how to deal with life in prison. It was then that we realized that the guards forgot to lock the door and we made a break for freedom. |
Jenny and Timmy keep the party going outside of the The Officer's Club, making up for the fact that the party can no longer go on inside the building. It burned down during the Indian Occupation in 1970, so the officers can no longer attend luxurious dances and throw a game of bowling. Jenny and Tim know how to have fun in the face of adversity, so they had no problem looking past the burned out interior and saw through to the character of this building. |
Al Capone was a very interesting man. I remember when I was a young man growing up on the streets in Chicago when I ran first ran into Capone. We only dented each other's fenders, but I wanted to do things right and contact the proper authorities. When I asked for his insurance and information he freaked, and took off into the night. I wonder what ever happened to that gentleman... |
We were on the island for about 2 1/2 hours before we decided to head back to the mainland. It was then that I bestowed my camera upon Jenny Reck and gave her the full responsibility of taking pictures during the return trip. Anyone who frequents this site knows what kind of silliness and mayhem can take place once Jenny is allowed to capture moments from her perspective. What is going on here and why is Jenny taking pictures of shadows in the water? Whose shadows are they and why are they trying to kill me? |
