Brewers vs. Cardinals in St. Louis with Foley |
We wanted to stay at the Hilton that is about 2 blocks away from the ballpark, but it was all booked up for this weekend. But that didn't stop Dave from going there to check it out. I don't know why he wanted to see it, but then again I know that I do a lot of crazy shit I can't explain, so I'm not one to judge other people. |
New Busch Stadium opened in 2006, but it took until this year (2009) before St. Louis was awarded the All-Star Game. In celebration of the mid-summer event, the city erected miniature arches all over the place, so we went to the Gateway Mall area where they have green space, fountains and sculptures to look at. |
Mark really wanted us to see this crap so we humored him for a while. But then I started getting into it because I really didn't have anything better to do. When I have nothing to do and tons of time on my hands, crazy things somehow materialize. It's like they are sitting there in the back of my mind just waiting for the opportunity to come to life. And when they do, look out. That's when the random happens... |
The downtown area is very picturesque but that's not a hard feat to accomplish seeing that the city has a National monument that towers over the skyline. When you have a recognizable landmark such as that, it's almost a given that people will pose by it. |
Since today was a day game, we had to figure out something to do with the rest of our night. Mark wanted to walk around downtown and check out the sights, so we agreed on that because no one else had a better suggestion. I thought it was funny that he wanted to do that because he is originally from here (he grew up across the river in Illinois). I just kind of went with the flow and decided to take some goofy pictures that would eventually find their way onto this website. And low and behold, here they are for your viewing pleasure. You're welcome. |
I've always been a big fan of fountains and water. In my younger days I used to go swimming in them. On Jenny's birthday several years ago, Jenny, Mike Bates and I swam in that fountain by St. Mary's Hospital on the Eastside. But I refrained from going into this fountain, and for the most part I feel I made the right decision. |
Some people where out getting pictures taken for their wedding and I figured I would be part of the problem instead of the solution by also taking pictures of them. I could have just gone on my way and ignored it, but that's not how I roll. But you already knew that. |
There have only been a few times in my life where I have said that bums have the right idea. One time I saw a bum pull some good looking sneakers out of a dumpster and I got jealous. And since I currently was a little tired, I wish that I could just sprawl out on the concrete steps and take a sweet nap. A bum's life is the life for me. |
