South Carolina 2011 - The Mini-Golf |
Whiskey and Vodka mixers (albeit rail brands and in small plastic cups) were only like $2 dollars so I bought a round for everyone. It's the least that I could do. Leave it to my cheap ass to wait until this bar to finally but. I guess it's just the way I am. They didn't mind. |
We breezed through the first two bars/holes because we had a time limit in which to complete the course. But when we reached the 3rd bar, the Thirsty Parrot, we figured that we were way ahead of schedule so we could relax and have a couple of drinks. Gary bought us a pitcher of long islands and Kevin and I sat back and held the rage to a minimum for the time being. Then I had to use the bathroom and noticed something strange. This bathroom, like one of the other bars had a board over the top of the toilet that prohibited you from removing it and taking an "upper decker." I wasn't going to do it, but is it really such a problem here in South Carolina that you have to protect against it? |
James and Melissa were enjoying each other's company as always but I know that they were also enjoying ours, even if it was me, Gary and Kevin. Hell, someone is better than no one, right? |
Hole #5 was outside of some bar and we played the hole and dashed so fast that I didn't even get it's name. Sounds like my Friday nights. But after some research I found out it was Yesterday's Pub, and Melissa got a hole in one (and a cup with straw + lid) on this Par 2. |
At this point I kind of lost track of how everyone else was doing in the tournament. It could have had something to do with the walking and drinking. See, I don't get out much so activity of any kind overwhelms me. The only reason I knew how I did was because I was Tweeting about it, and after 3 holes I was -3 overall. We moved on to Sharky's which had the floor of an Eastside Kitchen and really cheap drinks. I felt comfortable. |
I was across the street when everyone else was playing Hole 5 at Yesterday's so I didn't see how everyone else did, although I did hear about Melissa's hole in one because she was really proud of herself. I was too busy Starting the Revolution with some old people and I missed the walk signal and got left behind. By the time I made it over I must have lost my mojo because I bogeyed the hole (1 over par) and now stood at -4 overall. The worker there tried to console me in my time of failure, but I told her that my Mother still loved me. And she always will. |
I really dug this bar because it had a real Jimmy Buffett/Parrothead feel to it. And I'm down with that. Any bar that has a giant Landshark Lager sign is alright with me. I could've hung out here all night long. |
Hole #3 had a little ramp so you had to hit it hard enough to get it up but not too hard as to miss the hole. That's what she said. James was leading the pack early on which was to be expected because out of all of us he was the only experienced golfer. Melissa was getting fired up because of her competitive nature but the rest of us were just hanging back and having a good time. I don't think we expected to win. |
