I wore my Brewers gear because I knew that this stadium regularly housed the Brewers Class A affiliate, and that some of the workers there most likely also worked for the Manatees during the regular season. I ran into several people who commented on my apparel, and I found out that some of them even used to live and work in Wisconsin as recently as last year. We chatted with people for a while, then made our way towards the field. We were greeted by Buck, who works for the Manatees, when he questioned me about my Jersey. I told him that I was from Milwaukee and I came to Space Coast Stadium because of its ties to the Brewers and was looking to purchase a Manatees hat. The souvenir stands were not selling any Manatees gear because they are the spring training home of the Washington Nationals, but he promised me that he would be able to get me one by the end of the game. I got his cell phone number, and we went to our seats to watch the game. Today was Nationals Visor giveaway day, which Jenny proudly sported, but I kept my Brewers gear on because I'm not supporting the Nationals. |
Orlando Spring Break - Day 5 |
These kind of chairs were a big part of my childhood. My Dad was and still is the only person that I know who owns one of these and uses it at every possible occasion. You might question the validity of that statement, but this chair was in the bed of his truck, and knowing my Dad, it's been in there for some time and wasn't purposefully put there because we were going to the ball game. It's good to see that someone out there still uses it, because taller people like me don't like sitting so close to the ground because it's a long way up when you want to get out. Since Jenny is already halfway to the floor (sorry about the short jokes) she doesn't mind sitting as close to the ground as possible. |
I don't know how many people are familiar with Milwaukee Brewers tailgating, but the majority of the people before games hang out in the parking lot for hours before the game and take their time getting into the game. When I tailgate, I almost always miss the National Anthem and 1st inning, and trend that continued for this game. |
We had already missed the National Anthem, and didn't feel like missing too much more so we grabbed a couple of beers and started walking towards the stadium. Along the way, we saw this statue of a baseball player. Had I not been drunk, I would have taken the time to find out why this statue was here and who it was. But I didn't, so we used it as a rest stop on the way to the game. At this point I was double fisting beers like crazy, trying desperately to finish them off before we entered. Thankfully, I've had a lot of practice at this thing, and was able to accomplish my goal. |
Jenny slams her beer and makes a lasting impression for me and they other people in the parking lot. For me it was a good impression because I like to think that I taught her how to drink. For the old people and families going to the game, they saw a reckless college kid on spring break invading their town and causing mischief. |
