New York City Spring Break - Day 4
Belvedere Castle is the second highest point in the park. From here you can see pretty far, but it didn't impress me because I had already seen NYC and Central Park from the top of the Rockefeller Center. I did still appreciate the beauty and majesty of this park.
Jenny made a clever observation while we were standing outside of Belvedere Castle - this castle is bigger than her head. Jenny does have a fantastic way with words and always has the perfect thing to say in any occasion.
Charles B. Stover is credited with founding the modern day playground. I know that from now on, I will thank Mr. Stover every time I cherry bomb someone on a see-saw, get sick on the merry-go-round, shoot down a tube slide and when I jump off of a swing and land in the sand.
This stage is in an area of the park known as Shakespeare Garden. I bet they do some wicked 16th Century English plays there. If not, then June's Blanket for sure could get the Central Park crowd rocking to their 21st Century hits.
The inside of Belvedere castle was different than other castles. It did have a moat, tower and dungeon, but it also had a nature center, weather observatory and a turtle. Jenny didn't care much for the weather, so she focused her attention on the turtle. I watched my back in case the caretaker (park service worker) decided to capture me and lock me in shackles in the torture chamber.
By this time, we had had our fill of Central Park, as about 2 1/2 had passed since we first entered the park today. We started walking towards the American Museum of Natural History to see how expensive it was to check it out, but ended up visiting some Central Park Natural history instead. I know that that didn't make sense, but I just wanted to say something profound about these flowers.
After all of the gray and brown (with a little green grass thrown in) it was nice to finally see some colors in the local plant life. The picture on the left makes me long for the summer months when this place would be aglow in all of the beautiful colors of the rainbow. Maybe someday I will come back here to fully appreciate Central Park in all of its majestic splendor. For now at least, I have these pictures to look upon.
