Christmas California Adventure (19)

Night time came, and Disneyland was aglow. I'm glad that I don't have to foot the electricity bill for that place. Most everything was lit up in a grand spectacle. Me and Mom wanted our picture taken with nature's greatest invention - electricity. Then we strolled on down the way to see Walt pointing at his castle. That Walt sure was a creative guy.

Jenny and I have had this undying love for Goofy ever since we watched the Goofy Movie everyday and chose the characters that we would "be". Jenny got Goofy (she wrote it down as Goffy), Max, Roxanne, Powerline; all the good ones. I got Pete, PJ, the Open Road, Lester from the possum farm; basically all the bad characters. That's the way it always went with us and movies. She always got all the good characters in the Goofy movie, Labyrinth, Sister Acts 1 + 2. But you can't argue with Jenny...or at least I couldn't.

The highlight of my night at Disneyland - the Chris Whenes' of the Caribbean. I mean the Carrots of the Piribbean. Alright, the Pirates of the Caribbean. That was always my favorite ride. From the sudden drop at the beginning, the catchy "Yo ho, yo ho, a Pirate's Life for Me", to the Pirates chasing the women, the gunfire, cannon blasts, booty, skeletons; do I really need to explain myself further? Pirates are great, and I cannot imagine a greater life.

When you first get in the boats, you travel through a restaurant before starting the ride. There's all these people eating dinner, having drinks, appetizers, etc. Naturally, I shouted loudly, did the peacock noise, and took their picture. What else would you expect of me?

There were dead bodies all over the place - and it wasn't even a basement! Skeletons were draped over large amounts of gold and silver, seemingly protecting their stash until their final breath.

If only that gold was real, I would jump out of the boat, steal it, and make a mad getaway. If I had all that money, then I could fulfill my 3 lifetime goals - become Tim's roadie, mass market the Godsplash, and turn pookon.com into a multi-billion dollar empire.

I have no idea what this scurvy dog is trying to do, but I commend him on it. Anyone that puts that much effort into something obviously is quite focused on the task at hand, and the final goal.

Me (thinking really hard), Kelly, and Jenny before the Indiana Jones ride. That, in my opinion, was the best ride that Disneyland had to offer. Anyone can take a movie and make a ride out of it, but it takes a real mind to make that ride awesome.

I take this picture to express my disgust of Disneyland. The last time I was there, in 1993, the Matterhorn Mountain ride was closed. It was closed again this year. If I go back in 10 years, will it still be closed? I hope not. I've always wanted to go on this ride, maybe someday I'll get my chance.

This is the closest I got to Space Mountain during this trip. The crowds never thinned out, and there was a 2 hour wait for Space Mountain even at 10:30 at night. We were all tired, so we said screw it, and went back to the car. Well, that's it for the Disneyland experience this time around. Hopefully next time, they can show me a time that really is something special.
