Mike's Bachelor Party
We finished our drinks at Paddy's and then took off towards the Comedy Sportz palace. For those of you who've been to a CSz game, you might remember their old Stadium near the Summerfest grounds. This act has gotten too big for the building, so now they play in a swanky new joint near 1st and National, in a world class Comedy Sportz arena.
Few people may recognize this man, but many more will recognize this man's cousin, who is a blessed friend Eamon. Yes, the same Eamon who has a swandive named after him. This is Tim Higgins, a member of the CSz team since 1992 and an all around hilarious man. I remember a time in Eamon's basement at his graduation party where we all sat around and laughed till we cried on account of Tim's ridiculous banter.
They asked for a volunteer for a game, and requested someone that was having a birthday or celebrating a special occasion. All of us went nuts trying to get their attention so Mike could display his CSz skillz on stage, and he was chosen. The questioned Mike, and set up the scene based upon his answers. They asked Mike what words would describe Katie, his fiancée, then a performer would act as Katie based upon those characteristics. They then asked Mike to describe his brother Ryan, and another performer acted as Ryan. Ryan chipped in his descriptions for Mike, and the game was set to begin. The game was hilarious because of those characteristics mentioned, because Ryan and Mike came up with the strangest descriptions ever. Most people would say funny, but Mike and Ryan would come up with suave or sexy. It was so over the top, and Mike got to be the judge for the accuracy of the performance. See, his role in the matter was to judge of any of the performers playing him and his family would actually say something that the performers did, and alert the judges whether it was wrong or right. I think Mike was having too much fun watching because he stood on stage and barely did anything for the entire skit. But for those who knows Mike, sometimes silence is his best attempt at showing his humor, because when he does talk, it catches you off guard.
For his participation, he was given a beach ball that grants him free admission to an upcoming show, something that he plans to use when we go and laugh again. Maybe next time us old Tosa East CSz alumni will get a shot at the big time like our buddy Mike...
We sat outside in the kind-of cold trying to decide what to do next. The easiest (and closest) solution was to walk across the parking lot and go to Slim's Irish Pub. Being our second Irish pub of the night, we were all feeling a bit o' the luck inside each and every one of us.
