The Kansas City downtown hotspot is called the Crown Center. The area houses a large mall, 2 world-renowned luxurious hotels, outdoor plaza space, and the world headquarters of the Hallmark Company. This place was huge. When we walked in, the first restaurant that we saw was the Crayola Cafe. Named after and featuring Crayola Crayons, it is the only restaurant of its kind in the World. Everything there was obviously very colorful, and you even got to color your own placemats. The menu items were pretty standard and basic, but all looked pretty delicious. I ordered the "Any-way-you'd-like-it-Crayola Burger" hoping there would be forest green and burnt sienna crayons on it, but it just had lettuce, tomato, onions, bacon and cheese.  Our waitress was really nice and we allowed to order beer. We sampled some beer from the Boulevard Brewing Company, then made plans to visit the brewery and take the tour at 2:00pm.

Brewers Games in Kansas City

My placemat (as you can see in the picture above and to the right) had a moon on it, which I colored blue then drew in a cow jumping over it, and a dish and a spoon running away on the bottom. Balkman got a picture of a sun, drew it black, then gave to me as a present from Death. He then altered it to resemble the evil eye of Sauron from the Lord of the Rings series.

After lunch we went next door to the store/gift shop/Crayola adventure experience. There were some interactive exhibits set up so that kids of all ages could learn cool stuff about crayons, plus they had some paper and colors set up so that kids like me could go to town with crayons. I chose to use these cool fluorescent chalks on this black construction paper to draw the only thing I really cared about.

There was only one thing that came to mind when I looked down at the blank slate of paper - the Milwaukee Brewers' "Ball and Glove" retro logo. Thankfully Crayola has every color known to man available for use, so I was able to create a true enough copy.

While I colored, Lorge played some of the interactive color games. I'm not really sure about the point behind these games, but apparently you're supposed to learn something. I was in no mood for learning; I came here for Brewers baseball and drinking. Learning is the absolute last thing on my mind this weekend...

You guys get an awfully good look at how crazy and unique this place is from this picture. I'm definitely glad that we decided to eat there instead of some random fast food joint on the side of the road.

My drawing pales in comparison to the real logo; let's face it, I'm no Tom Meindel (the original creator of this logo.) Thankfully, no one but the 7-year-old sitting next to me judges my work.
