Iceman Celebration Day 2017

I always come up with some kind of plan for my Birthday/Iceman Celebration Day. Last year (for Number 35) I took a week long trip to Niagara Falls and Cooperstown, NY. Even though May 6 was a Saturday, I had planned to scale it back a little bit and just take a weekend trip. And then on May 2nd I got some sad news that a childhood friend's Mother passed away and the funeral would be on Friday May 5. And just like that, my weekend plans were scrapped. But I can't be upset about it. I would still celebrate this weekend. In fact I might celebrate even more because life is a very precious thing and you never really know how much of it you have left. No birthday is mundane or should be taken for granted.

Jenny Reck was always supposed to accompany me on this year's Iceman Celebration Day adventure and we left home without a plan. It was a beautiful day for a drive in my convertible and we started out driving. At some point Jenny looked up disc golf courses and we found one that was nearby. Travelers Park only has 4 holes, but it was a little challenging due to the wind and the mushie mushie condition of the ground. But we still had a great time and I'm sure we shot well. All that stuff matters, but not as much as getting out and living life however you want to.

We continued heading West in search of more adventures and we came across a park that had it all - swings and a bathroom ride. Seriously, what more do you need from a roadside attraction?

The activity that I had planned was an all-day event, which meant that we couldn't do it this time (as we would have had to leave Friday night to wake up in destination on Saturday morning ready to roll). This meant that I got to wake up at home with Korben Dallas. He seemed less than thrilled about my birthday as he ignored me and slept. Well pal, party poopers get left at home and don't get any cake or ice cream.

This park also had a playground, but I didn't notice it at first because it was disguised as rocks and trees. When I did figure it out, I played King of the Mountain and rode the rock pile while listening to "Stroke Me" by Billy Squire. Jenny preferred the green slide and went down it multiple times. I climbed to the top of the tree fort and considered living up there like the Ewoks, but decided that it was time to move on. You only get 24 hours of celebration and I already wasted some of them sleeping since the calendar page turned.

It wasn't until we started driving around randomly and realized that we were in the city of Whitewater. Not only that, but we were practically on campus. Guess what that means? College tours! Logo photo op!
