Afterglow 2010 - Day 2 Sunday |
It's been a few years since all 3 of the McKissick boys have been together rat Afterglow. I'd go back into the archives to figure out how long, but that kind of job is meant for my historian. Because I am in between historians right now, I'll just say that it's been a while. |
The days go by so fast up here, almost like they are on fast forward. And before you know it, it is soon night and we are sitting around the fire singing songs. I wish that I could slow the time down, but unless I'm Adam Sandler in Click, I don't have the ability to do that. |
There are few things that I love in this world more that hanging out at the Afterglow campfire and singing songs. The Brewers and raging on KK would rank #1 and #2, but this is a clear 3rd. All year long I reflect and think about this moment when everything is perfectly clear. |
Kevin is a willing and dubious student of the arts. He is willing and ready to take lessons from his teachers be it Aunt Kris or cousin Timmy. Tonight he played alongside Aunt Kris and made some magical tunes that will be forever remembered by the witnesses. |
I previously mentioned that Kevin is a student of the Arts. That kid sure did pick a couple of good teachers to learn from, and the Afterglow campfire is his classroom. While Timmy and Mom take lead, Kevin follows along and kicks some much needed pizzazz into the mix. Whether he is playing along with the melody or trying out a solo, Kevin is accepted because he is a part of the moment that is the night. And so it goes... |
Raging on KK is often underrated. We call it KK (Kurutz's Kourt) because Uncle Rick, Aunt Maria, Aunt Sandy and Uncle Greg were hanging out on the tennis courts after the campfire hours a couple of years ago. We were walking back to the cabins and we heard noises, so we decided to investigate. When we got there we found out that everyone was still raging into the wee hours of the night, and we took over. Now we rage it on KK until we are unable to keep our eye open. This year Timmy brought his camping stove and made grilled cheese for everyone in attendance. If that is not raging, then I don't know what is. |
