Afterglow 2010 - Day 6 Thursday

Things seemed to change for the better for Jenny when she stood up to meet her family members at the finish line. Maybe Dale's salty attitude was rubbing off on her. Or maybe Gale's positively was influencing her. Or maybe I'm completely wrong. Who knows.

There wasn't a whole lot of joy on the sidelines from Dale and Jenny and I really don't know why. They got to watch Brian, Gary and Kevin tip over. If that's not worth the price of admission (which was free by the way) then I don't know what is. Turn those frowns upside down!

After experiencing the world through the non-working eyes of the blind, regaining vision and living in the world of sight just isn't the same anymore. The kids are disoriented and they ponder where to go from here on. And to this day they are still looking for the answer.

I wish that I could say that I had the courage or willingness to step up and participate in these kind of events, but I simply do not. At my age I'm just a casual observer and I kind of like it that way. I'm too drunk and lazy to actually accomplish anything this week at Afterglow.

I love the sombrero look. It sets us apart from everyone else. Of course we don't really need to have specialized headwear that does that because we stand out in the crowd anyway. But it is pretty sweet to be known for something positive instead of all the negativity that gets thrown around so aimlessly these days. But don't these kids look spectacular? I thought I could rock a sombrero but I was sadly mistaken. They take the cake.

One thing that cannot be avoided at Afterglow is the group shot. It is taken after nearly every event and there is no point trying to fight it anymore. But why would we avoid it? It just wouldn't be right to deny the camera our beautiful faces and our fantastic sombreros.

Since it has been like 9 months since this happened, I have no choice but to make things up because I no longer remember why we did things. I'm guessing here that Gail asked a "who has done _____" question and we raised our hands although we were all lying.

The rock pile and corresponding floating target has been there for a long time. I almost remembered when Pete first dumped the pile of rocks on the shore and set up the target, but I definitely don't remember why he did it. I know that each rock is small, but Afterglow Lake is shallow enough as it is already and adding additional sediment to the bottom of the lake doesn't seem like a good idea. But Pete is owner and operator of this establishment and the surrounding area, so who am I to question what he does with his shit? We'll just fall in line and throw rocks.
