Afterglow 2010 - Day 5 Wednesday

The sombrero has became a staple in our everyday life, so much to the point that we feel naked without them. Which is why it is perfectly normal for us to wear them to the beach and in front of everyone. Eventually they just become a part of us and we can't live without 'em.

Stacy may be in college now, but she is still the same height as most children, which means that she is regulated to the shallow end of Afterglow Lake along with other kids like Maddie. But she has passed the swim test, which means she's allowed to go out to the HD.

I told you that we love our sombreros so much that we sometimes have separation anxiety should we take them off, which is why we even swim with them on. Today Timmy was one of those people and he ventured outside of the buoys with a sombrero firmly on his head.

While all of us were swimming Jenny Reck was hanging out on the dock playing some wicked tunes and taking most of the pictures that you see here. If not for her I wouldn't be able to remember any of this day. These pictures help jog the brain cells that I lost that day.

Uncle Rick and Uncle Greg are the creators of everything cool at Afterglow and they taught us everything that we know. They introduced us to giant drinking mugs, raging on KK, Starting the Revolution and all sorts of minute details that would take too long to list here. And even as the years roll on, they still prove to us that they still got it. And Uncle Rick is out in the water rocking the booze filled mug. How awesome is that?

My Mom's brothers (Rick, Greg and Michael) are just as bad as an influence on her as Jenny's brothers (James, myself and Timmy) are on her. So it was no surprise to me when I saw this picture of Mom hanging out with Rick and Greg taking a sip out of Rick's giant booze mug. My Mom may be anti booze for the majority of the year, but up at Afterglow she relaxes her stance a little bit and lightens up. Which means that she has 1 drink instead of the usual 0. But that 1 drink comes out of Uncle Rick's giant mug, which is filled to the brim with a lot of booze and a little soda.

Even though Timmy was all liquored up, he adhered to all three rules because he was drinking back in the cabin with me. And he certainly was getting along with everyone and having fun because he was hopped up on booze. So what Mom didn't know couldn't hurt her.

My Mom loves Afterglow, which is a good thing because she keeps on footing the bill for the week up here. All that we have to do to get her to keep on ponying up the dough is get along with each other, have a good time and don't drink so much (at least in front of her.)

Uncle Greg and Uncle Rick were floating comfortably on noodles in the void between the beach and the raft. As previously mentioned, Uncle Rick has a drink with him, but I don't see Uncle Greg's. And I'm understandably disappointed to see my inspiration without one.

Jenny was on the dock taking pictures, and must have instructed everyone to put their hands in the air and wave them like they just don't care. What is this, 1990's hip hop? C'mon Jenny! Just make them start the Revolution and everything else will fall into place.
