Afterglow 2008 - Day 3 Monday

Practically everyone else was enjoying the coolness of the big pool, but Faith was just having a blast digging holes in the beach, filling them with water, and sticking her feet in them. It's pretty standard beach activity, and if you've never done that before then you really had a rough childhood. I'm sorry that you never felt that joy.

The kids assumed the position and climbed on top of the high dive, where they would spend the rest of the afternoon. I got chastised heavily by my peers for not joining them, by if I was upstairs on the raft, then how would I have been able to take this picture?

Today had all of the familiar signs of a beach day, so there was no way we were going to waste it by sitting around in the cabin all day watching a poor Bob Barker fill-in. We needed to be in the water, so all people big and small, young and not so young gathered in the various sections of the big pool to enjoy this beautiful day.

The Uncles were where they were, and no one could give them crap about it. No one dared to challenge Rick or Greg in a battle of place, because both of these people would put you in yours. They loved to sit on the beach with their mugs, and there's nothing wrong with that.

We emerged from the water with a renewed sense of purpose, and we were now confident to continue or day. Or some crap like that. I try to be poetic, but I just end up spewing out nonsensical garbage. But the people who frequent this site (like the folks pictured below) don't need me to be poetic, they love this crap just the way it is.

We would've stayed up on the high dive all day long (we have done it many times before) but we chose to come down so that we could play softball. Afterglow sports are tailor-made for non-athletic people like me, so I need to take full advantage of the time when I can feel like a big sports star. Even I can be like Joe Cooper.

Kevin and Brian were on hand to play, and were getting quite antsy waiting on the bench for the game to start. Or it could have been the complete opposite. Honestly, I'm just guessing here. I have no idea what these kids are thinking at this moment.

Uncle Greg and Uncle Dale were on hand to watch, but instead of watching the field, they were staring off into the woods. Since I was too focused on them and not on the woods, I can't tell you what they were looking at in there. But I got $5 dollars on a giant grizzly bear.
