Afterglow 2008 - Day 1 Saturday

Home

To some of us (especially Kevin and I) Uncle Greg is hilarious, but to Brian it's kind of embarrassing because it's his Dad acting like a goof. Now Uncle Greg is a great guy, and I love him a whole lot, but sometimes he just hits the sauce a little too hard and makes a fool out of himself. But hey, we've all been there. I'll raise my hand and declare that I am guilty of that sin. More times than I can count.

The aftermath of the shirt looked like another Hulk had his way with it. I'm talking about Terry Bollea, known by Hulkamaniacs around the globe as Hulk Hogan. For those of you who don't remember 80's and 90's WWF wrestling, Hulk Hogan always tore off his shirt when he entered the ring. Hulk would be proud of me.

Kevin got a little box wine on his t-shirt, so naturally we had to destroy it. The best way I know how to destroy clothing is by doing the "fat guy in a little coat" routine that Chris Farley perfected in Tommy Boy. So I put the t-shirt on and ripped through it like Bruce Banner when he transforms into the Incredible Hulk. The shirt didn't stand a chance, but at least it got a very sweet and honorable send-off. That's more than I can say for the majority of clothing that people toss away. Most of them end up in the garbage or at Goodwill. This shirt died happy.

One of my favorite moments from Afterglow 2008 happened on that night. We were raging it pretty loud in the cabin, but Stacy and Stefani were quietly playing cards or something in the bedroom. They were keeping to themselves and not making a sound, when Uncle Greg flung open the door, yelled "You're being too loud!" then slammed the door. That moment had the crowd in stitches.

So after all that BW, I was all partied out. I retired to the best bed in the entire world - the bear and deer couch at Afterglow. I don't know why I love sleeping on the couch, but there's something about it that just feels right. So the BW put me to sleep, and we had 1 day down, with 6 more to go. We'll see how that BW is in the morning...
