Afterglow 2008 - Day 8 Saturday

We're all slow to get going on Saturday morning, thanks to a week's worth of raging it, swimming and tons of activities. But we've gotten better than in the past few years. I can recount some of the good few where some of us have been too hung-over to drive home or stay awake for the trip. Oh the good old days...

Home

Tim and I have this unique ability to look completely goofy in a moments notice. Brian can fart on command, and we can goof it up on command. Both are skills that can be used for good or for bad, and you never know when they might come in handy. But for the time being, Tim and I use it for good to look cheesy in pictures.

In a bit of a departure from years past, I wasn't hung-over on Saturday morning, meaning that I was in good shape to make the drive home. Even though the alcohol was out of my system, I still was mega tired, which is why I bought this 5 hour energy supplement hen we stopped for gas in Oshkosh. And you know what? That crap didn't work because it didn't give me a 5 hour boost of energy. Those lying son of a guns. I might have been a little more upset, but for once in my life I didn't let a little thing like that get me down. After all, I had just spent a week in the sweetest and most wonderful place in the universe, so what did I have to be upset about? I'll tell you - it will be 51 weeks until I'm there again. Bummer man. So we made it home, and I eventually made it back down to the eastside to continue waiting until next year.

Jenny and Susie had a great time up here this year, but I know that they are both anxious to get back home to their friends and their lifestyles. For the young people, they love to get out there and live the life and be out and about. For those older people (like me) we prefer to kick back and take life easy. Ah to be young again.

Now this is in no way mean spirited, but I just noticed that Beege wasn't there this year. By now, I'm used to Gary not coming up to Afterglow, but this was the first time that Beege didn't join his family. Say what you want about Beege (Kevin), but I for one hope that he comes back up to Afterglow next year to hang with us.

I had an unofficial completion date for Afterglow 2008 by January 31st of 2009. Obviously that didn't happen, so I gave myself a month extension. And that didn't happen, but I made it pretty darn close. If February would have been a normal month (30 some days) then I would have been right on time. But I finally complete this on March 1st 2009, which gives us about 21 weeks until we will be at Afterglow again. As it stands right now, I can't get off the whole week from work, so this year may be a little abbreviated for me. But more on that as it gets closer to that date, and I'm not going to get upset about it until it is a reality. Afterglow 2008 wasn't one of the best years on record, but even the worst week at Afterglow is better than the best week of the other 51 during the year. There's no doubting that. Until next time - Later dudes.
