Afterglow 2008 - Day 7 Friday |
Every now and then, a blind squirrel finds a nut. And every now and then, I manage to take a good night time shot. This is one of those pictures that comes along every so often. We may have all been blinking and seeing stars for minutes after the flash went off, but I know I speak for Kevin and Jenny when I say that it was worth it. I mean c'mon, don't we just look so precious? |
Like almost every night up here, we went up to Kurutz's Kourt to rage it into the late hours of the night. Thanks to the Nancies of the world, after midnight we are no longer allowed to hang out by the fire, and this is the only place that we can kind of be loud. So with bedtime not an option at this point, and the lack of better options, we once again raged it up on the KK. But it's still better than being at home. |
When you look at these pictures, you have to understand that it is nearly pitch black, so it's tough to get everyone in the frame. And once you get them in the frame, you can't expect them to have their eyes open or to be looking at the camera. So I try several times to get a perfect picture, but after two attempts the kids are basically blindly swinging their fists at me to try and sway the camera out of my hands. When you are shrouded in complete darkness, a camera flash is one of the last things that you want to see. A bear pouncing out of the woods about to eat your face is the last thing you want to see. That and Tim Curry as Pennywise in Stephen King's It. I'm just saying. |
I've known this kid (Scott Moline) since he was a baby. We've been coming up here that long. And while he has been a hell raiser in the past (devil child is probably a little more appropriate), dare I say that he was cool enough to hang out with this year? I may have just been a little too drunk, but I could tolerate hanging out with him. Maybe he has grown up, but just maybe I was toasted. |
