Afterglow 2008 - Day 7 Friday |
When I awoke in the morning, I was treated to a true spectacle of athleticism - James was taking on Tim and Faith in a game of Afterglow tennis. Tim played behind Faith and allowed her the first crack at hitting the ball, and whatever she missed Tim promptly returned to James' side. Truth be told, there really should have been someone backing Tim up, but I was too busy taking pictures to pick up a racket. |
Friday is last day up here before we return home to our normal lives, and it is a little depressing. But we try to forget about that and make the most of it, and eat tons of food until our stomachs ache. In the afternoon, people bring their leftovers down to the beach area, and we rock the S out of it. And then we go back to our cabins and clean out the refrigerators. We always get some good eats on Friday. |
I was putting my life on the line to get some of these up close action shots. I would like to compare myself to those nature photographers who hid in camouflage in the bush amongst deadly creatures, but the only real fear I had was getting an eye poked out by a tennis ball. Moms used to always warn you with getting your eye poked out, but in my 27 years of living, I've never seen an eye actually get poked out of its socket. It must just be one of those things that Moms exaggerate upon just to get you to be safe and follow the rules. |
Every year, Kevin and I play a game of behind the back pool. I've explained it before, but here it is again for you newbie's. You have to hit every shot with the pool cue behind your back like we are demonstrating in the picture. It's a bit challenging, but also a whole lot of fun. It started a as way to spice up the game and kill a little time, and now I look forward to it every year. |
