Afterglow 2017 - Day 1 Saturday

A beautiful day turned into a beautiful night (as it often does around here) and I joined the adults on the beach to enjoy it. I can't say that I lasted too long with them because even though I am age appropriate to be one, I would never consider myself one of them. And I never will be.

Jenny Reck was dealing the cards and I was just a casual observer. We normally play poker when we hang out together, and those kinds of games just aren't my thing. Even though we had all of the windows closed, I guess we were being really loud because some guy from Cabin #4 came over to yell at us (and Cabin #6 as they were being loud too). That's some Cabin on Cabin crime and it shouldn't have a place in this World. We're a loud bunch. It's going to happen and it sucks that we don't have a safe haven to be loud. I guess we need to change and sometimes just call it a night. Sure. That's going to happen. I guess we will just keep getting yelled at.

I went back to Cabin #2 to be among my own kind. We also sat out and enjoyed this beautiful night, but I promise you that the conversation was as juvenile as can be. None of it cannot be repeated here. Not because it isn't fit to print. Nope. Because I can't remember what was said.

I try to play the ring and hook game as little as possible because it is an addiction that I cannot kick. I need to play until I win and I'm not very good at this game. Kevin on the other hand, is a seasoned pro. I'd pay good money to grab just a couple of tricks from his magic bag.

When it gets dark we always need to seek shelter and will go to any place that welcomes us in. Tonight that was at Cabin #5. BK was in entertainment mode as he modeled a child's sized life preserver and a child's sized inflatable space shuttle pool toy. I guess it goes to show that no matter how old you get, you are still a child at heart. And no embodies that quite like BK. If you're ever in need of a laugh or someone to perk your spirits up, I ask you to invite him over. But be warned - you do get what you ask for and he comes exactly as advertised. For better or for worse.

Mom poured herself a drink and joined us over at Cabin #5 for some cards and tom foolery. Right then I should have battened down the hatches because any amateur weatherman could see that a storm was a brewin'. Without Mom in a stable mindset, chaos and anarchy rises up against the institution and becomes the ruling force of judgment. This is not a good thing if you need to maintain a sense of order.
