The (Deep) South Carolina 2010 - Day 3 |
We went to this hick bar way out in the middle of nowhere and we started doing karaoke. Alex was the first to sign up and did some country songs. I was all karaoke'd out from the other bar so I waited a bit to sign up, but I did enjoy watching other people go nuts. |
They're all about country music down here in the South. I though that was more of a Texas/Western thing but what do I know? I'm just a Yankee from the North. So when they started line dancing I sat my ass down and watched. I don't want none of that nonsense. |
This is one of the only pictures I have of James, Melissa and myself and it turns out that the picture was as blurry as we were that night. Normally I would ask for a new picture but I was drunk then and I'm drunk now. Which is why I didn't care then and I don't care now. |
My favorite thing about hanging out in dive bars is meeting the locals. There at least one in every bar and you can easily pick him out in a crowd. He's the guy that knows every bartender and waitress by name and he never needs to ask or wait for a drink - they bring it to him. And he's always the one wasted at the end of the night and they need to call him a cab. I met this bar's regular townie and I got him to start the revolution. He probably didn't know what he was doing or what it meant, but then again does anyone? Don't ask questions and just put your fist in the air. |
I don't remember a whole lot from that night and it's pretty evident from the redness in my cheeks that I got nice and drunk. But from this picture I can tell that I had a good time with my brother James. |
And then I look up and they're all line dancing. Even the local townie wearing a "here fishy fishy fishy..." t-shirt was rhythmically falling into formation. Have at it folks. Just don't expect me to join. |
I don't really remember who this dude is. He's somehow related to Alex. He's his friend, brother or step-brother or something like that. But he seemed to know us well enough to get all up in our business and put his arms around us. And for some reason I was ok with it. |
The bar was closed and our 8 hour drinking binge had come to an end. That means that it was now the witching hour and all sorts of debauchery could take place. And like every night of my life it happened with all dudes. And then the touching and ass slapping started and I wonder why people question my sexuality. But we're all family in some weird way so that makes it alright. Just don't tell anybody about it. Shhhhh.... |
