Because of my weary condition, I was unable to contribute to getting us home safely and he did all of the driving. I tried to stay awake and keep him company, but I was in and out for the 10 hour drive. As you can tell by the lack of pictures, nothing much happened along the way. But this wasn't necessarily a bad thing because so much had happened in a short week. I think I was in need of a whole lot of nothing.
Cape San Blas, FL Spring Break 2018 - Day 8/9

If you've been following along since the first post about Cape San Blas Spring Break 2018, then you know that this was quite the adventure for what was supposed to be a relaxing week at the beach. Now that it is all over, I have to ask myself the question if it was all worth it. And I suppose that it was. In between the travel delays, sickness and hospital visits, we had a couple of really nice days. Just being able to have the windows open and to go outside in February was worth it. But then on top of that, I got the Ocean and a swimming pool. Oh yeah - and I didn't have to work. So hell yeah it was worth it. But would I do it all over again knowing what was going to happen? I would need to take some time to think about that one. Who knows if/when I will get to go on another Spring Break.

Because of all of that, we stayed another night at the La Quinta. I don't remember much of it as I was making up for some missed sleep. I know that I felt good enough to eat some hotel breakfast, which was a good indication that my stomach had rebounded. But even #BaconWednesdays on a Monday morning could make the rest of my body feel any better. The dogs were getting restless and wanted to go home. And quite frankly, so did I. There's no place like home. I just made that up. Feel free to use it in your conversations but make sure that you give me credit for it.

There was a moment during the night when I thought I was going to buy the farm, but my Financial Advisor decided that it wasn't a very good investment. When the morning came I really didn't feel that much better, but at least I could now breathe a little bit easier. All through the night I was experiencing shortness of breath and my body was shaking every time I moved. I figure it had to be some sort of food poisoning, but my Dad insisted that I go to an Urgent Care Walk-in Clinic. They did a couple of tests there and they insisted that I go to the Emergency Room. By the time I was sent home at nearly 7pm, they had taken blood, done ultrasounds on my legs and given me a CAT scan. And the results of those tests? I'm not a cat, but they could not determine what (if anything) is wrong with me. So in the end I spent about 8 hours in the Urgent Care and Emergency Room, got hit with nearly $2,000 in medical bills and we lost a day of travel. We were supposed to make the 10 hour drive from Nashville to WI and be back to work tomorrow (as it was Monday), but that obviously wasn't happening. So yeah, that was lovely.
