At a rest stop in an undisclosed location in Alabama (as nothing good happens in this state), Captain D and the Pirates walked the plank by evacuating themselves from my system. I don't mean to be gross, but it may still not be safe to use that toilet or park in that spot. I threw up all over the place and was dizzy and slurring my speech. I've never felt this way without alcohol being involved. While I had the shakes in my seat and struggled to breathe, my Dad got us to Nashville and found a hotel for the night. I know I didn't sleep during the night. When I wasn't in bed attempting to do so I was on the toilet or in the shower. I just wanted to curl up in a ball and cry. If I didn't know any better (which I do because I'm still here to talk about it), I would have thought that I was dying. It was without a doubt, one of the worst nights of my entire life. This made me hate Captain D's and the State of Alabama because they tried to kill me. And if I have it my way, I will never go back to either one.

The next few hours were a blur. My Dad drove as I went in and out of consciousness in the passenger seat. My stomach was as choppy as the Atlantic high seas during a Nor'easter. That Captain D's was not sitting well with me as the Pirates were declaring mutiny on the scallywag that was supposedly in command of this vessel. I managed to be awake to take a few pictures, but I couldn't tell you what was going on.

Cape San Blas, FL Spring Break 2018 - Day 7

It took a while to get the car packed up. Try staying in a 3 level condo with 3 dogs for 5 days see what kind of mess you need to clean up. But we left our little weekly haven with good thoughts and memories even though everything didn't work out according to plan. At the end of the day, that's all you can really ask for, right? I would rather it be memorable (for good or for bad) instead of mundane and forgetable.

It was lunchtime while we were passing through Alabama, so at my request we stopped at Captain D's. I had never heard of this restaurant but I thought that it sounded funny, especially when you overly emphasize the D. I instantly fell in love with this place as they had a combo meal that had both fish & chicken tenders along with 2 sides (pretty sure I had fries and mac & cheese) along with hush puppies. When I went to the condiment counter I had to pick my self off of the floor - they had everything a growing boy could possibly need. I got Captain D's Sauce, honey mustard, ketchup, ranch and tartar sauce. Anyone who knows me knows that I'm a Sauce Man, so this had me thinking I went to Heaven.

I'm not sure what time we were supposed to be out of the condo, but we were trying to get a good 8 hours of driving in today and spend the night in Nashville (which is about halfway home). So for one more time I had the pleasure of being soothed to sleep by the Ocean waves and softly woken up by them as well. This is something that I deeply treasured and will not forget any time soon. If anything, that was worth the trip down here. Since I was so thankful of the Ocean's gift to me, I went to say goodbye to her before heading back to my non-Ocean life. Seems like the least I could do as I couldn't stay and I also couldn't take her with me. So until next time Ms. Gulf of Mexico - I sure will miss you.
