Cape San Blas, FL Spring Break 2018 - Day 3

We did get here around midnight last night, but that is no excuse as for why it took me nearly until 5pm to walk down to the ocean. As you could see from the pictures, we were literally steps away, so I have no excuses for the delay. So apologies are due to all parties involved.

Thankfully I was the only one in the pool. That's not surprising considering that it was February. While this was warm to me (I am from Wisconsin after all) this was still cold for Florida. So I was doing cannonballs and walking around without a shirt on and not ruining anybody's Tuesday afternoon. Of course I still would have done it anyway had there been people around, but I feel better knowing that I didn't destroy their day. When I got back to the cabin the dogs were laying around being lazy and Dad was sleeping. So I went up to my room and sat out on the deck, sipped on a cocktail and enjoyed everything around me. This was perfection. There was no where else in the World that I wanted to be right now. I needed this. In more ways than one. And so far, I got everything that I wanted.
The condo that we rented had 3 levels (well technically 4 because the entire unit was on stilts in case of flooding due to hurricanes). When you parked you had to walk up the stairs. On the first level was the kitchen, dining room and living room. The 2nd level had 1 bedroom that faced the Gulf of Mexico and 1 bedroom that faced the parking lot. The 3rd level was the Master bedroom that faced the Gulf. I got to stay in the Master bedroom because my Dad's dogs couldn't make it up all of the stairs. I will admit that it was troublesome for me as well, but it meant that I could sleep with the porch door open and then wake up to this view. This made every single stair I had to climb worth it.
Since this was the first time I had been to the sea in a while, I decided to go big or go home. I attached my Wasp camera to my wrist and ventured out into the Ocean to become one with the waters and one with the waves. God made humans waterproof, so I guess it was about time that Humans applied it to technology. Because of that I was able to provide you with an almost exact replica of what I was experiencing on this night. You may be missing out on some of the senses that go with it (taste, touch and smell) but at least you get the sight and sound of the Ocean. If that isn't good enough for you, then I suggest that you go to the Ocean yourself and get the full package. Because this is the best replication that I can do.

I recently found out that my phone can do timelapse videos (although at this time I hadn't figured it out completely, hence the choppy motion in this video). I was walking on the beach and decided to lay on my belly facing the sea and hold my phone for a good 20 minutes or so to get this 25 second video. It isn't perfect, but I used this opportunity to try out this function knowing that I had several more nights down here to get it right before I had to go back home. While I laid there in the sand I was truly living in the moment as the sounds, sights and smells enveloped me. And never at one point in time did I want to be somewhere else.

My Dad wasn't feeling well today and when we put our minds together, we figured that his bout of food poisoning came from Bojangles, a fast food Chicken chain with 600+ locations mostly in the Southeastern US (we stopped at one in Alabama). When we crossed over into Florida last night I let it all out because the Bojangles was ripping apart my insides. He told me that he had been up since 2am with the same. I guess that's why they call it Bojangles. Because that's what it does to you. I only tell you that because he was sidelined for the day on the couch (he didn't even make it up to the bedroom) and I was on my own. So I found the pool and acted like the fool that I am without parental supervision.

When the sun had set I had entered into the twilight portion of the day. Since I no longer had to sit still and record a timelapse video of the setting sun, I was free to move around along the beach. I walked on the sand, in the water and if I could, I would have walked in the air as well. The World was my playground and I was eager to explore. I had a drink and free will to do as I pleased. I was truly living in paradise.

From down here our condo looked really big (we were in the 3rd unit from the left) and I suppose that it was because we didn't need all of that space. But I didn't worry myself about that at the moment because I was running out of daylight. I pranced around in the waves along the beach and learned first hand why you never turn your back on the sea - she made me her bitch. Kind of like my ex-wife.

The timing was right and the night was so beautiful. I just had to go back into the water for a second time and let the waves wash all over me. Even though it was only February, the evening surf wasn't too cold to enjoy. Plus it was rough in the way that I like it so it felt like I was getting some kind of action tonight. Wait... What? After I left the beach I went in the pool again even though it was closed. But in the cover of night and by keeping my mouth shut, I got away with it. I then ended the night up in the Master Bedroom suite by soaking in the giant tub with some scented candles burning while listening to Jewel. I'm not sure who's dream I was living, but I'll certainly allow it.
