California Spring Break (Day 3)
I once again returned to the place of my birth, wading towards the mother ocean. It may have been the glistening tide, but I was sure I saw a glimmer in my eye as I looked out into the vast reaches of the sea...
The waves were causing quite a ruckus upon the pier that we were standing on just moments ago. The pounding waters rattled the support beams, trying to bring them down, but alas, they failed. The beams, I hear, are made strong to withstand this brute force.
On Monday morning, this picture ran in the San Dimas Daily Bulletin along with the headline "Old Man Searches Beach for Booty." The elderly gentleman, who's name is being withheld, was unaware of story or the accompanying photograph.
We stood tall and regal in preparation for yet another group photograph courtesy of the self-timer. Little did we know, the Los Angeles County Fire Department wanted to get in the picture as well. There was nothing I could have done to stop them.
I was attempting to dive underneath a volleyball net and have Dad capture my style and grace in mid-air, but it did not work. I ended up hurting really bad from the constant beating my body took from the impact, so I stopped.
For some reason, all of the pictures that I took of the sand turned out too white, and I tried o overcome that failure by trying several times. Craig and Dad were caught off-guard, and did not have time even to say 'cheese' to the camera.
In a last ditch attempt to figure out if something was wrong with my camera, I hung my shirt up like a windsock and took a picture of it, and it turned out fine. I then took a picture of me sitting in the sand, and that one was too white. I didn't understand just what was going on, and had no way to fix it, so all of the pictures turned out like so.
We stopped at a bar along the ocean walkway to have a beer and to grab a little bite to eat. I was hungry, but not feeling too good, so I drank water. We waited forever to get served, and by the time we left, I was ridiculously tired. I slept in the car all the way home (although I tired not to). When we got back to Craig's it was about 8:30 - 9:00 pm, and I went right to bed. I slept like Rumplestiltskin, and awoke at 5:30 am the next day.
