California Spring Break (Day 9)

We went up at the perfect time - sunset. The sun cast an eerie glow on the valley down below, and the colors were amazing. A painter could not correctly choose a pallet of this magnitude. Which is why I decided that sunset was my favorite time of day. There is none other that offers the splendid enriched softness that enraptures the soul of a person in search of oneself.

Because of the high altitude, snow was present on the ground surrounding the trees. It was nice to see snow this time of year, because it had been a snow-less winter thus far back home in Wisconsin. Riding up the mountain was so cool, it was unlike anything that I've ever done before, and now I'm glad that we went.

The setting sun provided an image that can only be described by looking at the picture, so I'm not going to attempt to try and talk about it; just look at the picture and revel in it's magnificence.

Everything has mascots these days, even the Palm Springs mountain tram thing. My Dad likes raccoons, so he needed a picture next to him. Thankfully, the raccoon was happy to oblige.

I asked this lovely couple to take a picture of me and my Dad, and they gladly did. It wasn't until later that I discovered Charlton Heston was perched up there with his rifle, destined to kill all those "damn dirty apes." Much like the 'Old Man searches Beach for Booty' picture, after seeing this one I immediately thought of Charlton Heston staring off into the sunset trying to revisit the life he'd left behind. I don't blame him for staring off into the distance though. Just look at it. I could've stayed there all day.
