I was loving the stone work inside and outside this place. Plus it had a wicked waterfall. Whatever pennies were left in my pockets certainly went over the falls and into the pool below. If I got thirsty I would either have to dunk my head into the water and take a drink or scoop up all the loose change to get another beer. I doubt anyone here ever paid for a beer with waterfall change. I would be a pioneer. Or maybe their version of a hobo. I wouldn't mind bumming around this place. It sure beats my place back home. |
After we left the Biltmore Estate grounds (it took us like a half hour to get out. Seriously. I don't feel like looking up how big the entire estate is [I lied, it's over 8,000 acres], but it's huge) Melissa took us to the Omni Grove Park Inn. We had to drive up a ways to get there, but it was well worth it. This AAA Four Diamond Hotel was pretty nice. It's a good thing that they let poor people like me wander around the grounds without having a penny in their pocket. But I did buy a round of beers for me and Jenny, which ended up being $15 with tip. So now I definitely did not have a penny in my pocket. But I guess it costs a lot to live like this. |
We wandered around on this back area and went up and down the stairs. It was glorious. And exhausting. You know how many stairs there are here?!? (I'm not looking this one up). But it was totally worth it. I'm all for exerting the energy if there's a payoff in the end. There wasn't much else to do besides hang out and look at things, so I don't have much else to say. Deal with it. |

There was this giant fireplace and I couldn't help but want to throw myself into it. I'm not suicidal or anything, but the only reason it could be that big is for burning human beings alive. While I'm not ready to sacrifice myself to he who shall not be named (and I'm not talking about Voldemort), I had to figure out another way to get into that fireplace without 3rd degree burns. Ah ha! That's right! How about that new camera feature on my phone that I just discovered on this trip! Brilliant! Oh and look! An old car! Exclamation point! |
From up here you got an amazing view of the Blue Ridge Mountains, which made me want to float above them like a heavenly cherub. The mountains change people. They make one want to do something like that. I guess that's why I don't go to the mountainous regions often. But maybe I should get out more. I could use more heavenly cherub time and less whatever the hell I'm doing now time. |
