2015 was turning out to be a year of adventures. I had my first of 5 #weddings in January and a trip to Portland in February. March would see me traveling to a place that I have been many times before - The Carolinas. But this time would be different. This time I would be going with Mom and Jenny. My brother James and his wife Melissa live in Columbia, SC. Both my Mom and I have been down there several times, but this would be a first for Jenny. I left Korben Dallas in the care of my downstairs neighbors and we flew out of Milwaukee to Charlotte, North Carolina through Detroit. I've been in this airport many times, but never was there a time like this. |
This was my 2nd time in North Carolina (Kevin, Gary and I drove out here in the Fall 2011 to see the Green Bay Packers take on the Carolina Packers), but even then I really only got to see the city of Charlotte and not much else. As we drove to the West towards Asheville, the landscape got a lot more interesting as we approached the Blue Ridge Mountains. I'm always thankful for this kind of view because Wisconsin doesn't offer much more than trees, lakes and flat land. That's why I try and travel as much as possible. |

It is well documented that Jenny Reck and I like to drinks a bit. But we often try to hide this from our Mother because she doesn't approve of this disgusting behavior. It was noon somewhere (and I think it was only noon for us here because of the time change) so Jenny got a bloody and I got a beer. No shock there. But the crazy thing was when Mom ordered a glass of wine. If you can't beat them, join them. Right? It's about time she got on board. If you aren't with us, then you're against us. You chose.... wisely. |
I got a new phone when we got back from Portland. I now have a Samsung Galaxy Note 4. You'll notice the aspect ratio changes between the pictures. You'll also notice that I started playing around with some of the new features on this phone, like the dual camera mode. This allows you to take a picture with the regular (back) camera and the front (selfie) camera. This allows for some rather bizarre pictures, which suits my personality like a, uh, well tailored suit. This is a taste of what is to come. It's all downhill from here folks. Get used to it. |
The worst disaster in aviation history was letting me and Jenny Reck sit next to each other on the plane. OK, so maybe I'm being a tad over dramatic here, but it has to rank up there. Nothing good can come from our drinking, loud talking and raging. |
In the Charlotte airport, they have posters of movies that filmed in North Carolina. There were more films than I was aware of, but I zeroed in on one of my favorite Jack Black movies (Shallow Hal) and my go to Halloween/Horror flick (Juwanna Mann). |
