Brewers vs. Twins in MN 2010 - Game 2

I got separated from Mike and Katie (and our friend Shawn) so I was alone when the Brewers rallied for 5 runs in the 9th to take a 7-6 lead. But it was ok because there were plenty of Brewers fans around me to share high fives with. But sadly Carlos Villanueva pulled a Trevor Hoffman and blew the save, and the game went to extra innings.

Sometimes it is hard to believe that Miller Park is 9 years old, so I can't really harp on it too much. It's not his fault that he is a little outdated. But I loved that Target Field has flat screen TVs all over the ballpark so you can catch high def replays for when you can't see the ultra high def giant video display board. They got you covered here.

One of my favorite things about Target Field is that it was built down into the ground and you can walk around the entire ballpark on the field level while still being able to see the field. I'm sorry to say this, but Miller Park does not give you that luxury. But I still love it anyway.

Only true fans stick around until the game is over. Most casual fans think that baseball is already too long and leave before the game ends. There isn't much more that I love than bonus baseball. It's kind of like when you get two snacks for the price of one in the vending machine. Luckily for us the casual fans left and we were able to sit in their seats in the left field bleachers. The people behind me were upset that my sombrero was blocking their vision, so I gave it to Reese to try on. And like anyone who has ever tried on a sombrero, she instantly fell in love with it.

It was getting late and as the game stretched into innings #10 and 11, it was approaching Reese's bedtime. Now I'm now expert on children or their behaviors, but I do know that they get all kinds of rowdy when they get tired. So Katie had to leave but Shawn said that Mike and I could catch a ride home with him. Even though Shawn is a good friend of ours, he's a Twins fan and enjoyed Jason Kubal's walk off sac fly too much, and rubbed it in our faces that the Twins won the game in the 12th inning by a score of 8-7. Oh well. That's why there's always a game tomorrow.

Target Field was built on the opposite side of downtown from the Metrodome. But it was still nice to have a downtown stadium. I would like a downtown stadium, but I know that I would miss tailgating if Miller Park was built anywhere except for its current location.

I've known Shawn for like 10 years now. He was Mike's roommate in college at the University of Minnesota both in the dorms and at multiple houses. Although I only see him once or twice a year, our good natured shit talking always picks right back up where it left off.

Home

After spending more hours in the Metrodome than I'd care to admit (and I do feel sorry for Twins fans who had to deal with that sad excuse for a baseball stadium all those years) it sure was great to be outdoors. I'm just glad that it was a beautiful day with no rain or cold in sight.
