Katie had put Reese to bed a while back and joined us outside for a little while. But Mike and I were in it for the long haul, so Katie went to bed. After the women were away, the men will be at play. Mike brought out his banjo and gave me his guitar and we jammed into the late hours of night. When we were all jammed out, we sat around the dying fire and reminisced about old times and all of the crazy memories we share. Even though we now only see each other twice a year if we are lucky, it's times like this that I remember why Mike Bates is my best friend. I'm so glad I took this trip... |
Brewers vs. Twins in MN 2010 - Blackduck |
Since we were in town Mike wanted to take me to his office so that I could see where he worked when he wasn't out in the woods. The local DNR Office was very small town quaint and had a nice home feel to it. Mike filled up this big jug of water here at the office because they had a good water purifier. The water back at his house comes from the ground and from wells, but although Mike loves being out in nature, there's just something about "clean" city-like water that you can't replicate in the woods. Since this was the Department of Natural Resources, there were some small woodland critters on the shelves. I don't know if they were replicas or actual formerly living ones that were stuffed, but these albino animals were were pretty sweet. And to think freaks like these with white coats and beady little white eyes actually exist out in nature. Weird... |
I took a picture with these messed up dead animals because they were a bunch of outcasts that deserved to be made fun of. Let's face it, if you are the laughing stock of your species, then it is the job of all the normies of your species to point and laugh. Just the way Mother Nature intended. There wasn't much to do at the DNR Station, so we went back home to have a bonfire in Mike's backyard. He found a wreath he somehow held on to since Christmas, and we put in on the fire. The bone try pine needles went up like crazy (the video is on the next page) and got the night started. |
