I find it weird to be at the stadium watching the game on TV when I could walk out the doors of this bar and see the game on the field. But my friends were in here, this place had air conditioning (it was summer) and the beer wasn't too expensive (at least for a stadium). It wasn't too bad back here, but I belonged outside in the elements, so I left them. |
Brewers vs. Twins in MN 2010 - Game 3 |
I was already in right field and in the middle of the Terrace level, so I might as well complete the triangle by visiting the left field. The game didn't look too different from over here because my eyes hadn't improved since walking from behind home plate. Even though I was unimpressed with the field view from this level, I still did appreciate the downtown skyline view behind the stadium. At least that is nice. |
I was attempting to get to the Outfield Mezzanine section high up in the sky out in left field. I walked to the end of the Terrace level in left field hoping that it would connect, but it didn't. So I would have to find a way to go down a level or two and work my way back up. It seemed like a pointless goal to have, but I was a man without a country. I was just looking for a place where I would be accepted. In enemy territory. Yikes. |
I had to go back down to the field level to try and make it back up to the outfield terrace level, and I found myself hanging out here longer than expected. There's something about the left field bleachers that feels like home, and I found a couple of Brewers fans to hang with which made it feel even more like home. While I was standing there watching the game, my friend Casey came up behind me. Apparently they had moved from their seats on the field level to the bar in the left field corner. Could I go for a drink and the company of friends? You bet I could. |
The Brewers had lost 9 in a row before that win in the final game at Pittsburgh, and they had already lost the first 2 in this series. Some of the blame did fall on Trevor Hoffman and his ineffectivness to close games, which is why they were willing to try anything when leading 4-2 in the 9th. Enter John Axford, who notched his 1st of 24 saves in 2010. |
My goal was to check out this ballpark from every angle. And that means getting as far away from home plate as possible while staying inside the confines of Target Field. This place was still pretty packed so it was difficult to find a seat even in the upper deck outfield nosebleeds. Thankfully this old ass usher let me hang out here until the end of the inning when I could go up and look for a place to hang till the final out. |
