Yovanni Gallardo (who, in my opinion, should have been starting yesterday's game) went up against Randy Johnson in tonight's game. And who would've thought that the result would be completely different than yesterday's game. Oh wait, I did! And so did anyone who follows the Brewers on a regular basis. Mike Cameron hit a solo home run in the 2nd inning, but the big blast of the game came off of the bat of pitcher Yovanni Gallardo in the 5th inning - a 3 run shot to left field. On top of that, he pitched 6 2/3 innings of 2 run ball and struck out 6. Things were at that point looking very promising for the 2009 Brewers season. So while 99% of the fans left disappointed that they didn't see Randy Johnson get 1 win closer to #300, I was hooting and hollering as I got to see Gallardo get win #1 and hit homerun #1 of the season. The Brewers held on to win 4-2, and Carlos Villanueva notched the save filling in for the injured Trevor Hoffman. They untucked the shirts and gave each other high fives, and I headed off to the train station to catch my overnight flight back home to Milwaukee a very happy man.

Since I didn't really know anybody in San Francisco that I could call up to go to a game on a Wednesday in April, I sat by myself in the upper deck. It wasn't all bad though, since I'm used to watching games alone. I focus so much of my attention on the game that it's usually too difficult to hold a conversation anyway. It was a real nice night, despite being a little cool and windy. But hell, it could've been worse. I could've been watching the game back at home in Wisconsin. Screw that, I'd rather be here.

I got lost trying to get from the cable car drop off to AT&T Park. I thought that I knew the city layout pretty well from my adventures earlier today, but apparently I was too busy being drunk to pay attention to the orientation of my surroundings. I walked for about an hour only to realize later that I was walking in the wrong direction. I tried calling a couple of people to look up directions, but since I had no idea where I was, it was difficult to describe it to someone else. I eventually ponied up for a cab ride, and it took less than 5 minutes to get there. I got to the park about game time, and all of the cheap seats were sold out. I bought the least expensive ticket from the kiosk, and was shocked to see that on a Wednesday, $24.00 could only get me in the left field corner of the upper deck! And I complain about the prices at Miller Park! We in Milwaukee really don't know how good we got it. Count your blessings that things are as they are Brewer fans. We are lucky.
