Arizona Spring Break - Day 3

Home

Since my Dad was taking it easy back at the car, I decided to sit in the outfield to get some more sun. I didn't sit out there for long, because I was going back and forth between here and the fence. But I was out here long enough to continue my wicked tan, which I knew would make all the ladies desire me back home.

My Dad called me and said that he was back in our seats, so I decided to move on back over there. Since I didn't have a lot of luck getting autographs by the fence, I decided my time was better spent watching the game with my old man. And since the Brewers were beating the Cubs, I enjoyed every second of it.

I forgot to mention that the Brewers scored 5 runs in the 1st inning before I even sat down in my seat. I was a little late coming in to the ballpark because I went back to the car to grab my baseballs. The Brewers were up 8-1 at one point, and the Cubs made it interesting by scoring 4 runs in the 8th inning. But Milwaukee held on to win 9-6, and even though it was Spring Training, this game was very exciting. And like every other Brewers/Cubs game, I was holding my breath until the final out to see the Brewers win.

I love it when the brewing equipment is right there for everyone to see while they drink and dine. It gives you a chance to see the beer process from beginning to end, as the workers were busy making the beer even in the late hours of the night while we were there. It makes you appreciate the hard work that goes into beer.

Before I head out to a new place for vacation, I Google local micro-breweries. Because there is nothing more that I like than trying local beer. I do have my favorites, and I stay true to the beers that I've been drinking since I was a teen, but new beer is delicious. I found the Four Peaks Brewery online, and I mentioned it to Jim and Kathy. Apparently they've been here before, and liked the place. So good food and new beer? Sounds like a plan to me.

I decided to get the sampler patter, because #1 it looks cool, and #2 it allows you to try every beer that the brewery offers. So I decided to run a train on them, going around the bend drinking one after the other. The most interesting beer was the Oatmeal Stout, mostly because it actually tasted like you were drinking a bowl of oatmeal. I'm not a fan of oatmeal, so I don't think I'd ever order that one again. The Arizona Peach tasted like peaches. Also interesting, but I like my beer to taste like beer, not peaches.  Peaches should come in a can, put there by a man in a factory downtown. The rest were good, but not as memorable. But my favorite was the 8th Street Ale, which is their signature brew. It had the right amount of flavor and hops, and was light enough that I could drink multiples if I felt like it. No wonder it's their #1 beer.

I realized that I didn't have a picture of Jim and Kathy, so I kindly asked them if I could take their picture. They probably didn't know that they would end up on the internet, but it's not like I'm saying bad things about them. I have nothing but good things, and I thank them so much for allowing us to stay at their house.
