Afterglow 2016 - Day 2 Sunday |
Memory Point is a place of clarity. It's a place to sit back, clear your head and live in the moment. It is also a place to reflect. Our memories play an important part in our lives. One could say that the memories formed us into the people that we are today. But even though they are certainly important, they are just a snapshot of the past. We acknowledge the past. But we cannot live there. |
Afterglow is a special place. That you already know. And there is a special place at Afterglow called Memory Point. This you already know. So it is no surprise to you that we traveled out there this morning to go out there to spend time with Timmy. |
One of Mom's favorite things to do up here is to sit out on the dock in the morning and read. It's quiet. It's peaceful. It's relaxing. I like it. Whatever makes you happy. Afterglow is a place where we can do whatever we want. And I respect that. |
On my way back home from Memory Point, I heard a commotion coming from the softball field. Since I'm as curious as a cat, I ventured up there to locate the source of that sound. When I got up there, I found Curtis and Tommy playing a little Whiffle Ball. According to the Oxford Dictionary, Wiffle Ball is "a light perforated ball used in a type of baseball or a game played with a Wiffle Ball." I don't if it is just me, but that definition just doesn't make sense. Thanks a lot Oxford Dictionary. Luckily for me (and anyone else with the gumption to admit that they don't know everything), I have a couple of videos that show you exactly what Wiffle Ball truly is. After watching these videos, you probably can say that you do too. You may be right. I may be crazy. But it just may be a lunatic you're looking for, right? I mean c'mon! Who else but a lunatic would surround themself with people hitting a slotted ball with a plastic bat?!? Who does that? Psychopaths and the criminally insane! That's who! This World has evolved into one filled with absolute chaos and anarchy! And I for one will not stand for this departure from reality. Instead I will just sit back and watch a simple game of a man throwing a ball and another man trying to hit said ball. After all is said and done, isn't that all what we want in this crazy and messed up World? |
It helps to go out to Memory Point. But it also hurts. So you must find a balance. And you also have to decide for yourself how much time to spend out there. Too much time and you feel sad. Too little time and you feel sad. Just the right amount of time is what is healthy for you. So when the moment comes, you have to leave and go on with the week and with your life. On the way back I grabbed a rock. My Mom's garden is full of rocks that she has gathered from up here. I figured that I should do my part and add to the collection. |
We raged it really hard last night. It was almost like someone challenged us to play it soft, so we played it really hard just to show them that we could. Always happens on the first night of Afterglow. We tend to do that because we have been waiting all year to get up here that we forget we have the whole week to rage and should probably pace ourselves. So while Mom left me alone in the cabin, I fought the urge to purge the booze from last night (throw up) and stabbed my watermelon and danced topless to Amy Grant's "Baby Baby". |
