Afterglow 2016 - Day 7 Friday

The finished product was truly a spectacle to behold and would be treasured as long as nature or the children would leave it standing intact on the beach. Time would tell on this one.
Susie and I rocked our sun visors on the beach and UG and AS rocked themselves. And 'tis a good day to rock what you got out here at beautiful Afterglow Lake Resort.

The "official" Sandcastle Contest (which makes you eligible for the awards) is on Thursday morning, but that didn't stop Stacy, Pinkman, Maddie and Evy from making one on Friday. That's how you know that they are in it for the real love of the game and not just for the recognition and prosperity that comes from being handed one of Gail's numerous designations of place, style or creativity. None of that matters to one who builds on non-sanctioned sandcastle days, which is why I sat back and watched these kids make a castle created from their imaginations and existed in a world beyond their wildest dreams. More people need to do this. It's a real shame that they don't.

Susie fell into the trap of the tree ring game and I couldn't bear to watch her play until she finally landed the ring on the hook. Too many people have wasted so much precious time on this game.

When I read the forecast, I don't remember the Weatherman saying that it was going to be a beach day. But apparently it was. How else would you explain this many people gathered on the shores to enjoy the day? Some of them relaxed in chairs and some of them braved the waters and went for a quick or elongated dip. And to each their own. No one tells me how to Afterglow. So I won't tell you how to.

The boys were warming up (or soothing their overworked muscles) in the hot tub and I had to fight my instincts to join them. I had to go back to the cabin for food and to refill my drink. Priorities.

It was another picturesque day here at Afterglow and the Gods certainly were certainly smiling down on us to make sure that our last day in paradise would be a good one. This allowed everyone to enjoy their day as they saw fit. Most of the people chose to spend that time in the water. 100% of the people who did what they wanted had the best day ever. Where else do you get odds that good?
