Afterglow 2016 - Day 4 Tuesday |
The kids didn't stay at the casino too long. They must not have been stealing as much from the Indians that their forefathers did. What? Too soon? But we were ready for their arrival and continued the rage +1 now that Jenny Reck was in the fold. We gathered in Cabin #5 and it soon became aware to me that Stacy brought a selfie stick to Afterglow. Since this was my first encounter with this determent to life as we know it, I decided to go all in. I've never been so ashamed of myself but at the same time I am overjoyed to have these pictures of all of the cousins hanging out and having the time of our lives. So it goes. Just another night here at good ol' Afterglow. |
Now that we were all together, the real fun could begin. Some stories were shared, some laughs were had and somewhere along the way, Frontdoor Beege (formerly Backdoor Beege) became Sidecar Beege because he's just along for the ride. There's nothing wrong with that. They say you can choose your friends but you cannot choose your family. And with the family that I have, I couldn't have chosen better if I was given the opportunity. I am so incredibly fortunate to have these goofballs in my life, so I enjoy every single moment with them. |
When the cousins rolled off to the casino, something told me not to go. Call it Woman's intuition or ESPN, but I knew that I needed to stay. When Jenny arrived, I knew that I was right to stay. After the hugs with June and Mom, Jenny and I cracked open the first of many beers. Even though she arrived early, I was ready for her arrival with a 12 pack of Hopalicious from the Ale Asylum Brewery in Madison. |
If you've been paying attention over the last few days of these Afterglow 2016 posts, you would notice that Jenny has been absent from these pictures. She couldn't get off from work for the entire week so she was going to work Monday and Tuesday and then come up Wednesday morning. What she didn't tell us is that she left work early on Tuesday and drove straight up here, surprising me, Juniper and Mom with her presence. And at that moment I truly realized that I made the right decision to stay here instead of go off to the casino. |
