Afterglow 2012 - Day 3 Monday

I like to Daily's Rage while Kevin prefers to PBR Rage. One might claim that his way is a little more manly, but I don't care what one thinks. One can go to hell for all I care. Daily's frozen cocktails are delicious, especially on a warm summer's day like today.

While Kevin and I were in town and getting ready for a swim, Mom and Eddie took a walk around the lake before Eddie decided to drive back home. He actually left while we were gone so I didn't get to say goodbye to him. But I was glad that he decided to stay for two nights because my Mom got to hang out with someone who doesn't act like they are 4 years old for a change. During the other 51 weeks she's an elementary school teacher and Jenny and I act their age, so I always feel better when she has other adults to hang out with.

One of the best things about vacation is having time. Since you can do as little or as much as you want and no one can tell you otherwise, I like to switch it up from my normal routine back home. Up here I take the time to enjoy the morning by cooking a hearty breakfast, relaxing after eating and enjoying having nothing to do. We stay so busy in our lives that sometimes we forget to slow down and just enjoy being alive. And there is no better place in this world that I would like to kick back and take it slow than a place called Afterglow.

Mom went out to Memory Point on Saturday when we first got up here but I waited until this morning to go visit Timmy. It's always a hard thing to do so I had to make sure I was mentally and emotionally prepared for coming out here. I wish I could say that it is easy being here but it's not. Most often I have to bring along a friend (like Cousin Kevin) so I don't feel so alone.

Even though it was a perfect day for being outside and swimming, Kevin and I decided to make a beer run into Eagle River. If we wanted to properly rage all day every day we needed the nectar of the Gods to assist in our quest. Thankfully Pick 'N Save (formerly Bonson's Pick 'N Save) has the largest assortment of products in the Wisconsin Northwoods to assist in the raging.

Kevin and I were here in late April with my Dad for Rage for Timmy II: The Secret of the Ooze but this time we came bearing gifts. I brought along my iPod and speakers and played him some Styx. We also brought some Knob Creek and made sure he had a couple of pulls from the bottle. I've always taken care of Timmy and nothing will stop me from continuing to do it. That's part of being a big brother and best friend.

It's a real nice 17 mile drive from Phelps to Eagle River and a perfect opportunity to jam some tunes with the windows down. Normally I like to take full advantage of the daylight and nice weather for swimming, but the drive to town is also a great time.

While I was sitting back in comfort enjoying the shit out my Daily's, Kevin hijacked my camera and made sure to include a picture of his ridiculous face on this website. You would think that he already had more than enough pictures on here, but one more couldn't hurt right? I always welcome the absurd and some days that's all we get around here. So I'm no stranger to pictures like these ones.
