Afterglow 2012 - Day 2 Sunday

Sunday is generally a pretty lazy day at Afterglow. There are no organized activities so Gail calls it "family day". Well if you are member of the Kurutz/Reck family then every day at Afterglow is a family day. But it is also a little lazy because we generally rage pretty hard on the first night because we had been waiting 357 days to get up here again. So in the next couple of pictures you'll see us lounging around not doing much. We were probably waiting the mother mandated 30 minutes after eating to go swimming. Yeah. Something like that.

At our peak occupancy last year Cabin #2 slept 8 people. This year we maxed out at 4 people meaning that I no longer had to sleep on the pull-out couch. While I have nothing against the couch my body was thanking me for getting a good night's sleep after the raging we did on KK last night. But since the beds are a little stiff and my shrewdness to not squander time up here I still woke up semi early. When I woke I found a pristine day that was just waiting for the cousins to upset the applecart. That is what we do best.

When we take our shirts off we are so ashamed. That's why we usually go right into the water before anyone notices our lack of physical fitness. But the Moms with their cameras are quicker than us and they also have the power to make us freeze in our tracks. I don't know how they do it but but we stand completely still like we are about to be punished. And if we don't pose for pictures, we'll go to timeout.

You know that it is a good weather day when the adults go in the lake. The don't swim every day like we do because they have...what are they called...standards? The air temperature needs to be a certain number on the Fahrenheit scale and the sun which provides life to sustain on Planet Earth needs to be out in full force. Then and only then will you see them congregating on noodles in the near shallow end where they talk amongst themselves until they have satisfied their inner need to feel like they have relaxed enough on vacation.

It's always a good day for swimming at Afterglow even if the weather sucks. You can't squander a day of lake time up here. Fortunately the weather didn't suck today and it was absolutely beautiful. But of course I don't have to tell you that. You were either there or you can figure that out by looking at the pictures. What a spectacular day it was. I can't wait to be back there to bask in the glory.

Gary and Beege chose not to attend Afterglow last year but made the wise decision to vacation in paradise this year. Carol took full advantage of having the family together and made them all dress in nice shirts so that they could take pictures before brunch. Sunday brunch is one of their family's traditions that I know nothing about because I'm not family. But I do know they look good. Real good.
