Afterglow 2012 - Day 7 Friday

Every year I have a checklist of things that I want to do at Afterglow and it seems like the entire week goes by and I forget to check any of them off. That is why you often see me doing seemingly random activities on Friday like Behind-the-Back Pool and going for a boat ride. I'm pretty sure that Kevin and I forgot to engage in our annual game but I wouldn't let the boat ride one be forgotten. When I woke up this morning no one else was awake, which made this a good time cross this one off. This ended up being a great start to the day.

While we were all out enjoying Afterglow from the top of the water other people were on the land seeing what this resort had to offer. And judging by this picture all it had to offer was standing around getting your picture taken by Aunt Carol.

But the real truth is that I'm never alone. Timmy is with me everywhere I go in my thoughts and in my heart. But I still decided to bring along my iPod with his music so I could listen to his songs while floating out on the calm waters of Afterglow.

When I set sail in Cabin #2's rowboat I thought that I would be alone in my travels. Then BK3 saw me out on the lake and got in his own boat to join me out there. It was nice to have a companion in this voyage and together we drifted out to sea.

Even though Afterglow Lake is pretty small the waters still have a current thanks to the wind. As you can tell the sky was overcast suggesting that the weather was in constant flux. When I set sail I didn't really plan on anything; I just went where God took me. I wasn't planning on drifting out into the great unknown but sometimes the adventure that you didn't plan on having is the best one of them all. I had Timmy, I had a alcoholic beverage, I had my thoughts and I had nothing better to do. It was the greatest thing of all.

While I was drifting I kind of lost myself. It's great to do that every now and then because then you feel free. When I came back to the world I noticed that there were others besides Brian out there in the cool waters. Brian had gone ashore and picked up Gary and turned the rowing over to him. Kevin had grabbed his own water vessel and joined us. And before we knew it the lake was full of vessels.

I can't even imagine the nonsense that went on in that aquatic circle. When you mix Gary, Brian, Kevin and some adult beverages you are sure to have some nonsense that can't be spoken about in civilized conversation where adults are present.
