Afterglow 2012 - Day 4 Tuesday

Before long the others joined us, which is not too surprising considering that the HD is the coolest clubhouse of them all. We tried to make it "no girls allowed" but the dudes lost that battle.

Curtis decided to hurl his majestic self off of the board and it ended our occupation of the HD. Who would want to hang out up there without Curtis? That's like Christmas without Santa/Jesus, Easter without the Bunny/Jesus, Chanukah without the uhh... dreidel (?) or Halloween without Slutty Girl Costumes. Some things just go with each other. Like Lamb and Tuna Fish.

Kevin, Curtis and I stood on top of the HD with our hands in the air and asserted our dominance like our primitive ancestors. One would say we acted like a bunch of apes but they're just jealous.

Friends come and go but family is forever. Gary and Kevin shimmied out to the end of the board to share a moment and it truly was a beautiful sight. Brothers are an interesting breed. The McKissick boys proved that to be true this afternoon.

While we can stay up on the HD for hours on end eventually you have to jump into the water. Sometimes nature calls if you know what I mean. Sometimes the skin and shorts get a little too dry and you need to moisturize. Sometimes childlike curiosity just grabs hold and makes you wonder once again what it is like to throw your body off of a ledge into the great unknown. Sometimes your beverage runs out and you need to go in for a refill. Whatever the case may be, something eventually causes you to jump. It will happen some time.

You know those competitions where people put their hand on a car and the last person touching it wins the car? I think all of us would be suited to win that competition due to our training on the HD. We have logged countless hours up there. Too many.

Some people just don't seem to grasp the concept of the HD. To them it is a high dive and they use it as such. To us it is a humble domicile where we can spend the majority of our time doing well, just about nothing. Every so often someone disturbs our good natured dwelling place and uses it for a different purpose. It is in those moments when we pray for humanity to understand.

We brought a frisbee out into the water and were tossing it around near the raft. Kevin wanted to get into the game but he wanted to up the stakes. While we were content to hang out in the water and toss the disc around Kevin took the game to new heights. Literally. He climbed to the top of the ladder and had someone throw him the disc but I don't think he caught it. But at least he tried, right?
