Afterglow 2012 - Day 4 Tuesday |
These kids look at the floating log like a dragon that is to be slain. They ride out towards the castle it is hiding within with nothing but chainmail, a sword and a shield. This is the recipe for knight flambé, which isn't a very appetizing dish. That is why you always go to a dragon fight on a trusty and noble steed. Since I am the only member of the gang that is the literal size of a horse I took on that role and helped my knights slay the dragon of a log. There's always an adventure to be had at Afterglow, which is why I love this place so much. |
The log is a fun place to go by yourself but when you imagine that it is a school bus or a limousine, isn't it more enjoyable to bring a couple of friends along for the ride? Whether you are riding in the back seat and flying into the air when the vehicle hits bumps or riding in style behind tinted windows swiping drinks from the mini-bar the journey is always more fun when friends are involved. I have learned that life is so much better (no offense) when you swap in family for those friends. That is what Afterglow is like for me. |
Yesterday I talked about how I love making breakfast up here. But sometimes after a night of raging I wake up later and it is almost lunch by that time. So today I made two very nice looking and tasty sandwiches. They were so beautiful and oh so fine. |
Even though we just woke up from a nighttime's worth of slumber some people carry their tired feelings into the next day. That is where the nap comes into play but I only allow people to do that if they intended to rally. You can't nap and not rally. |
The first thought the runs through our heads in the morning is to eat some food in preparation for the new day. And then we think about swimming. As soon as our bodies respond to our brain's impulses we suit up and enter Afterglow Lake. |
Jenny Reck was ready and willing to share a portion of her day with me and I was more than happy to accept her offer. A day with Jenny Reck (or even a fraction of a day) is just about the greatest thing I could ever ask for. It's always a good time. |
The best thing about Afterglow is that it is as fun as we make it. If you want to sleep all day then do that. If you want to lay out on the HD then do it. If you want to go out and float a boat well whatever floats your boat I guess. Jenny and Kevin saw some hula hoops laying out and decided to do some hoopin'. And when that wasn't enough for Kevin he did handstands. And I know that they both enjoyed it. |
I don't know why we are sitting around on the shore when we could just as easily sit around in the water or up on the HD but I don't have a time machine to go back and tell the past cousins that the shore isn't the place to be. All the cool kids hang out in the water or up on the HD, which says a lot about us I guess. But if we're not the cool kids at Afterglow, then who are they? I'd like to meet them... |
I can't decipher what Kevin and Brian are thinking from their facial expressions. Nor can I read their minds. Since I am only their cousin I don't share the LP connection that allows them to communicate to each other without speaking. I'm sure it is something revolutionary and mind-blowing but unfortunately we'll never know. LP's keep those secrets locked up inside steel traps. |
