Afterglow 2014 - Day 7 Friday |
I woke up this morning and poured two drinks - a big glass of water and another whiskey & whatever. If you're going to drink all day, you have to start in the morning. I also whipped up some delicious eggs. After all, breakfast is the most important meal. |
Real superheroes don't wear costumes. When Kevin was dressed as Superman, it was just for show. Today he rescued this kid who was afraid to jump off the high dive and swim in. So he ferried him back to shore. A noble deed my friend. |
While I was eating breakfast and arranging an early grave, Kevin was napping on our couch and preparing for the day. One of the best things about this joint is that we are free to roam in and out of any cabin paid for by our families. It's open season up in here. |
Sweet Sassy Massey was keeping an eye on his crew as we lazily drifted around the shallow end. Even though our feet could touch the ground, Massey believes in the age old concept of "safety first". That's a great policy to follow and one that we tend to forget from time to time. We have to make sure to stick around for awhile. There are many more years at Afterglow to enjoy. |
It must take a lot of work to maintain dreadlocks. I wouldn't know. I never tried that look. I doubt that I could pull it off. Brandon does it quite nicely, but Jenny had to offer him some kind of assistance on this early morning. After the barbershop visit was complete, they were able to eat their breakfast in peace and quiet. Ah quiet. That's something we don't get too often around here. It's rather nice. |
Despite it being late July, there are very few beach days at Afterglow. Blame Wisconsin. This is one wicked and unforgiving state. I would hurl blunt objects at her if I hadn't fallen in love with her as a young child. That's the tale of our torrid romance. But today everyone was feeling the love as they lay our on the beach soaking up the rays. Enjoy this moment while it lasts my friends. |

Sometimes we forget what it is like to be a kid. School, jobs, bills, responsibilities and a multitude of other things often get in the way. How many times do you stop to play in the sand? How often do you enjoy the simple things in life? That's why I commend Brian + Jenny for goofing off with Juniper this morning. They remembered. |
The rage shades were in full effect today despite the cloud cover. You don't need the sun in your eyes to make a fashion statement or a life decision. I had already made up my mind today and every day of my life. I was going to rage. But what about Peppermint and Carol? Well Pep had to put on some sunscreen because he is soft. And as for Carol? I'm afraid I can't speak for her. I'm not going there pal. |
I was out in the water with two of me main mates Blondbeard the Destroyer and LongIslands McKissick. We each carried with us our beverage of choice to further excite the rage within us. Once it bubbles to the surface and cannot be contained - look out. That's what happened on Pirate Day. We'll try to dial it back a bit and not get kicked out on our last day at Afterglow. Luckily Smokin' Aces was there to keep the peace and document our water adventures. Without her, I don't know where the hell we would be half the time. |
Susie and Uncle Rick took the two person kayak out for a row. It was a nice day to enjoy some father/daughter time in or on top of the water. Or simply doing anything. Today was just a beautiful day. And I couldn't think of a better place to be. |
