Afterglow 2014 - Day 6 Thursday |
The dying of the fire is always a sad thing, but as the week goes on, it becomes exponentially sadder. As soon as this night ends, it will be our last day at Afterglow. It's too bad. |
The McKissick Clan (at least the members who were present) were gathered to join in the evening festivities. Kevin even took it upon himself (as he often does) to be the main event. Words can't express how thankful I am that he offers to do that. |
There was a time when the Awards/Video Night meant a big deal to us. We used to participate in all of the events (so that we would be featured in the videos) and we would be eligible for the awards that were handed out. Even though this isn't the case as we have gotten older, I still feel like we should go and support those that are. Apparently I was the only one who believed this, because I was without my cousins in the Lodge this night. But all was good. Because when you have whiskey, you're never really alone. |
Luckily for me, the entire gang reunited at the fire after awards and video night. It's the second biggest gathering of the week (after Monday's Potluck Dinner). This gave me a chance to say goodbye to my pal Mark. Great seeing ya buddy. Until next year. |
I'm not terribly big on marshmallows, graham crackers or chocolate, even when you combine them together in a s'more. I don't want s'more. I want s'less. I know, I know. My name is Scotty Smalls, and I'm killing you. But much like cake (where I'm fine if I just each one piece all year on my Birthday), I'm good with just one s'more. And apparently tonight was the night to maw down on this bitch. |

Kevin and I haven't learned any new songs in the last couple of years, but that hasn't stopped us from trying to entertain the masses that gather at the fire pit at night. It would be no different this year. One of these days we really need to sit down in the practice facility and figure out how to rectify that, but I'm guessing 2015 will be more of the same. But that's Whiskey & Whatever, but that didn't seem to bother our fans. The sang along, clapped along and seemed like they were having a good time. |
Mom was taking "selfies" with Stacy. I'd shame both of them for this picture style if I wasn't guilty myself. So go ahead I guess. This behavior is here to stay, so get used to it. Darn kids. |
