Afterglow 2014 - Day 6 Thursday |
If you go out surfing and a shark attacks you, are you going to give up surfing? Probably. But you know what you have to do is pull yourself up by that wetsuit and get back on the board. So that's what I did. Yesterday was rough, but I lived to rage again. |
While we were out playing in or on the waters, my Mom was out at Memory Point visiting Timmy. There's not much left to say that I haven't already said throughout the years. When Mom was out there, she did take this picture of some pretty sweet mushrooms. I'm not a fan of fungus, but I have to admit that these things look pretty sweet. |
Yesterday was a very long day for me and it didn't end well. When I saw Jenny all partied out on the couch this morning, I felt a sense of comfort because I knew that I wasn't alone. We all raged balls to the walls until the wheels fell off. |
As you can plainly see with the eyes that the good Lord has given you, it was a little gloomy out today. The sun was nowhere to be seen and that made swimming a difficult task. But we all signed a pact to go swimming every day at Afterglow, so we had no choice but to enter these waters. Thankfully man (inspired by the Lord) created Liquid Courage. This helps you do all things that the body doesn't want to do. So Kevin, Brian, Susie and I entered the waters of Lake Afterglow on this dreary day. And it was glorious. |

Stacy was content to sit on the dock and read her book. I guess that's how you become well versed in all things that matter. I never studied and look where it led me - to the unemployment line!!!! Not really. Actually I have held one job for 7 years and the other for 13 years. So I don't really know where I was going with that. But does it matter? Stacy is reading a book and Kevin and Brian are maxing and relaxing on the platform. And why shouldn't they? The best part about Afterglow is that you can do whatever you want. |
Blondebeard the Destroyer took his post up on the HD and made sure that if this sucker was going down, he would be the one to do it. After all, he was the destroyer. The name comes with some baggage, but every now and then it comes with some perks as well. |
I cut my fingers up real bad, but it could have been worse. I could be dead. But I wasn't, so I continued on living my life. But I had to swim without putting my left hand in the water, which makes the awkward picture to the left understandable. I don't think anyone really knew or cared what was going on, which goes to show you what a first world problem this was. Just another day in the life. |
Mr. Dale found himself in the waters on this desolate afternoon, but he would not be alone. My Mom Kris and my Aunt Sandy also decided that the time was right to enter the waters despite there being no indication that the sun would show itself on this day. I appreciate the effort and their dedication. It takes a strong willed individual to swim when all signs point to it being a bad idea. |
I must have missed the memo that said that the Resort Fee covers non-motorized water crafts. Aside from my boating incident, I did not take advantage of this privilege. But that's just me. I have a history of not paying attention. Susie, Tommy and Kevin must have read through the Red Book and knew that it was in their God-given rights to take these vessels into the great wide open. |
Every day at Afterglow is a good day to be in or on the lake, regardless of the weather. Today was no exception. Tommy and Stacy took a rowboat for a cruise and encountered still waters that couldn't be replicated even if you had a million dollars. That's because money can't buy this kind of peace and serenity. This place is so incredibly important to all of us. I hope you are able to understand that. |
