Afterglow 2014 - Day 3 Monday

I love baseball. That goes without saying. Anyone who has known me during my life can tell you that I have been and am currently involved with the greatest sport that God has bestowed upon his people. But Afterglow is the only place where I am allowed to be a participant instead of a spectator, so I jump at the chance to be an athlete. It doesn't take a whole lot of skill to play softball at Afterglow, which is a good thing because I don't have a whole lot of it. You know how they say those who can't do, teach? I am the very epitome of that. I can't play the game, but I know everything about it. So it was a pleasure to be a part of it for once. All the other kids joined me on that day, and a good time was had by all. I love that something so simple can bring everyone together for an afternoon of fun.

The Sombrero is a very popular item. Folks either want to wear it or be near it at all times. It doesn't matter how old or young you are either - the Sombrero loves everyone. And everyone loves the Sombrero. So we all win! Oh glorious day! And check out that baby with the Sombrero! Even though she looks to be on the verge of tears, it's still the sweetest thing that I've ever seen. Now let's turn that frown upside down pal!
I sometimes like to pretend that I'm an athlete. I mostly do it in my dreams when no one is looking, but I put my skills on display once a year at Afterglow. Luckily for me, everyone watching is family or friend, so they don't laugh. I'm better off sitting back and watching the game. But James is a real athlete who played sports for his entire life while I was busy playing music. If you want to see someone who plays the game with Reckless abandon, watch me. But if you want to see someone play the game right, watch my brother James.

It should be common knowledge by now that Kevin and I (and others) wear Sombreros while going to baseball games. But did you know that we also wear them while playing baseball games? Well you do now! And these pictures serve as proof. I'll be honest when I say that it was difficult to play ball while wearing a Sombrero, but nothing worth doing right is easy. I will happily make the sacrifice all day, every day to look this good on and off the field. And I know that Kevin is on board as well.

Speaking of problems, my Mom loves to hang out with not only her own children, but other people's children as well. She does this both personally and professionally (she's a teacher). You would think she would get sick of it but she doesn't. Problems.

Despite none of us having even 1% of the talent it takes to be a Major Leaguer, people spend their hard earned money and precious time to come watch us play baseball. And people say that I have problems. But thanks for the support my family.
