Afterglow 2014 - Day 3 Monday |
Aside from it being the final resting place of my brother, Memory Point is a beautiful place. Since he died at the young age of 24, he never voiced his opinion on where he wanted to be buried. What young person has morose thoughts like that? So we had to decide for him, and could think of no better place than this. I think we made the right decision. We sat out here for as long as we needed, drank some whiskey and listened to some music. Kevin found a tiny frog and we all marveled at this wonder. And then we left to continue the rage. |
Now that James and Melissa were here, all three bedrooms were full up. So I had to sleep on the pull-out couch. But let's be honest here; even if one of the bedrooms was open I would still sleep on the pull-out couch. I don't know why, but I love that shit. |
Your clothing can say a lot about you. You would hope that the person makes the clothes instead of the other way around, but in today's day and age, that isn't always true. When you get dressed in the morning you need to be conscious of your fashion choice. Kevin, Jenny and Brandon were well aware that their t-shirts for today said a whole lot about them. I'm not going to bother explaining why these suit them perfectly. Just sit back and think about it for a moment and you'll get it eventually. |
Back in May I was gifted a treasure trove of cassette tapes, so I bought a boombox. Brandon found this suitcase looking cassette tape holder in a dumpster and it contained some real gems from the 80s. The greatest of which was Kraftwerk, a revolutionary German electronic music group. It has to heard to be believed. Only then will you appreciate the greatness of this hidden gem. It powered us to get up and get moving on a Monday morning. When has a band ever done that? |
Mornings are a little rough at Afterglow. Mostly because we are hungover from the last day of rage, but also because we have to face the fact that we are another day closer to going home. I chose to spend my morning on the dock and Kevin joined in. |
If you don't know by now I suppose I need to let you know that my little brother Timmy died in 2011. His ashes are buried at Afterglow at a place called Memory Point. Frequent visitors of this site unfortunately know this all too well. I've come up here several times during the year either in July or another random month for a Rage for Timmy weekend to spend some time with him. It's always emotional to come out here so during the "official" Afterglow trip, so I usually wait a couple of days before making the short walk to this part of the lake. Monday morning after the stretch/dance party seemed like the perfect time to get this done. Kevin, Jenny and Brandon joined me and we paid our respects to our brother, cousin or kid that we never even met. It's tough but necessary. You can't ignore the pain. |
Morning stretch/dance party was something that was created last year at Afterglow as a way for us to recover from the previous day. At my age I need to get up and move around in the morning and work out the stiffness that comes with my advancing years. You'll understand someday whether or not you want to. Even though this was necessary to be able to rage again, we made it a fun event. |
