Afterglow 2014 - Day 2 Sunday |
The Moms always get us together for a Cousins picture. That's when the nonsense truly happens and the blindness settles in. There were so many flashes going off, I felt like I was watching an episode of Pokemon from 1997. Thanks for the seizure pal. |
This was the 4th year of Afterglow since Timmy left us. Great Scott! Has it really been that long? Damn the years do fly by fast. His absence it felt in every moment of our lives, but the most noticeable loss is around the campfire at Afterglow. Say what you will of Timmy as a guitar player in Fadeback, a drummer in Micah Olsen and Crooked Keys or any of his self produced albums; in my personal opinion he was at home right here. Amongst family and friends he was at his best with no expectations or judgment. He was better than all of us. That is a fact. I don't want to take anything away from Kevin, Mom or myself. Don't think that. But I'm certain that all of us would say that we aren't him. That's OK , because we are different. 4 years later and we still need to have this conversation. It's been too long. |
Uncle Rick has been and will always be the one who tends to the fire. This is of course until he decided to relinquish the role and pass the torch to the next generation. The obvious answer is his son Tommy, but I will gladly sit upon the throne if he is unwilling to. I'd say that Susie is the one who tends to the mugs, but I know that each individual takes on that role. But there is no one in the land who has a mug like that. It is bigger than her head. |
There are a lot of languages in this World that I don't understand: Swahili, Ancient Sumerian, native Hawaiian and Spanish, just to name a few. But I do understand the language of Rage. I do know that the visitors of the Afterglow region pick up this dialect within the hour of arriving on the premises. That is why we all get along. We are one people. And we all know how to rage. |
If you didn't already click the link for The Daily Burner Podcast Episode 55 - We Don't Get Up Till Frickin' Noon... Buddy, then click here to listen to it now. You'll thank me later. This was some real good nonsense. It was some of the best stuff we've ever come up with. Of course I say that all of the time, so you'll just have to be the judge of that. But this is just a small sample of the rage that occurs both at Afterglow and at KK. I could try to explain it further, but I'm afraid that I've run out of time for today. Later pal! |
Mom needed a picture of her with her brother Rick, her sister-in-law Maria, her brother Greg, her sister-in-law Sandy and.... Tommy (for some reason). Which one of these doesn't belong? How dare you say that about Maria! She's a Saint damn it! |
Kevin and I like to change our Afterglow band name every year. We figure it keeps the audience coming back for more because they never know what they're gonna get. If folks didn't like The 13th Dimension, wait till they get a load of Whiskey & Whatever. |
There's not much I can say about this picture (or these kids) that you can't get from looking at this. So why bother? All that I'd be doing is wasting your time and distracting you from raging. Whoops. Looks like I just did that. Sorry about that pal. |
We pride ourselves on being unique. You can hear a song on the radio or on the internet, but have you ever heard Don McLean's "American Pie" as sung by vampires? No? Well that's what Whiskey & Whatever is able to provide you with. The Whiskey is what allows us to come up with this nonsense and the Whatever is what we provide. We tried to abide by the Afterglow rules as laid out in the Red Book. We played some music and we cut ourselves off around 11:00pm for quiet hour. We fully intended to to settle down and enjoy the night. Things don't always work out as planned and somehow I ended up doing my Aunt Bethany impression from Christmas Vacation. All hell broke loose and we got yelled at. Luckily I have it all recorded at The Daily Burner. |
